Trip to maxillofacial today to get Botox in my jaw muscle to try to gt it to relax so I can eat again without pain. Apparently this can happen 6-12 months after TMJ replacement because the muscle is in the way and it gets cut/damaged and when it is repairing itself, it gets really tight and hurts to chew on that side. Didn't happen with the right side replacement, unlucky with the left. Might need another dose after 6 months if it isn't feeling right, but that should be it. Didn't really hurt to get the injections, (3), hurts a bit now tho :/

Todays sketch of a tiny salt grinder. Not exactly drawn straight, but its a 5 minute sketch so it will do.

  2. Hi Jennifer,
Best of luck with the Botox. Hope it works and the pain goes bye-bye. I was just asking Michele about what they did for her TMJ. She said she thought cortisone was injected on one side once, but not any replacement. Now, one side hurts if she chews certain foods on one side, but all-in-all, she's okay.
    Have a good tomorrow.
    Sincerely,
    Gary

    1. Could have been cortisone, injections tend to be first line treatments since they do work for most people, in my case the damage from arthritis was too much even tho they did try with a different injection.

she should get it looked at again if she can, Drs might be able to help with the pain :)

  3. Your drawings are always great, but hated hearing about the jaw. Good to know Botox can be used for something really good instead of making forhead areas not move!

  4. Good luck, I hope it works really well and you are soon pain free. There is always something that needs to be fixed when you have a chronic illness. At least it was only one side, but one side too much.

    1. thanks Cindy :) yeah it seems to be luck of the draw if the jaw muscles will act up after the surgery. can't just get away with having a face that doesn't move properly, have to throw in muscle pain. on the plus side I lost about 8 pounds since i can't est properly lol
