Sketches #251

Image
Todays sketch is one of my teeth that was pulled today.  I actually broke it in the beginning of summer but it didn't start hurting until about 2 weeks ago. Cracked it down the middle but since the tooth had a root canal and was dead, took awhile for the area to start hurting.Second tooth this year having been pulled, probably wont be the last lol Blame the meds I'm on. And the unicorn as it is at the moment. Starting to smooth out areas so they are not so bumpy and putting more definition on the face.

Unicorn Head

Image
Messed up the symmetry on the 3D model body of the unicorn. So instead of driving myself insane trying to fix it, I just cut his head off lol Going to have it mounted like a trophy when done hopefully. Little morbid perhaps. Front view at the moment. Zbrush kept freezing on me last night, no idea why since this isn't really that big of a model. I like Zbrush, you can do a lot with it, and I have a lot to learn using it, but the interface is horrible and it is not the best written program. People love it for modeling since you can do so much with it, but fan boys/girls can't seem to admit it has problems and freak out when you mention them. Adding the base of the mane to the model. This is just a matter of building up the area with the clay brush and then you can go back and alter it by either drawing the hair or smoothing parts down. Probably just easier to draw lines to separate the hairs to make it look more mane like. Linking up to P aint Party Friday

Sketches #248 & #249 & #250

Image
John's motorcycle helmet from when he had a bike. He would love another one, but has enough projects going on at the moment lol A sketch of a hanger and the little tank looking sketch is actually the spray nozzle part of a spray can.

Throwback Thursday

Image
Found this little dragon design the other day going through some old sketchbooks. Can't remember what it was for, probably just a simple design at the time. hmm might put it into Illustrator to see what I can do with it.

3D Unicorn

Image
Starting the 3D unicorn in Zbrush. I start with spheres to build up the shape, even tho you could just start with one sphere. I find it easier to use multiple sphere tho since I find it easier to move them around. The sphere made into the basic shape of the unicorn. Almost ready to start modeling... and now to actually start. Yes, I know the tail looks funny but I just need a simple base to work with. I will probably put this on a base but will do that as a separate piece and then combine the two.

Sketches #246 & #247

Image
The top sketch is a modeling tool for clay like Sculpy and the bottom sketch is a wooden ink pen that creates some really nice lines but can be hard to control Back to the doctors today for my cough and its probably a viral infection since the antibiotics were not doing anything, so its all letting time past for it to go away. Have been put on steroids to try to help with the inflammation in my lungs which should help with the cough. So if I was going to have an MS relapse, now would be the time for one to happen since I am already taking the steroids the neurologist would give me lol

Sunday Sketches

Image
A quick sketch so I can make a 3D model of a unicorn. I just need the basic shapes and can build up the rest with a modeling program. Still coughing my lungs out, prob going back to the doctor because I don't think the antibiotics are doing their job.... Linking up with Sunday sketches :)

Sketches #244 & #245

Image
Yes, I drew a Q-tip for one of my challenge sketches lol And a bottle of mouthwash. 120 sketches to go until 365 sketches are done and since its almost inktober again I am going to be participating again this year since I am going to be drawing everyday in pen anyway.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
oops 2 books behind my goal, I tend not to read when I am sick oddly enough lol I don't want to have to concentrate when sick. Saga, Volume 6 by Brian K. Vaughan My rating: 4 of 5 stars MUCH better than the last volume. The story moves at a good pace, jumping forward in time really helped this story. The art style as usual suits the story perfectly, the characters are well drawn and the action panels look great. I love all of the colour. Looking forward to the next collected issues. Currently reading: Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson tagged: currently-reading The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge tagged: currently-reading Share book reviews and ratings with Jennifer, and even join a book club on Goodreads. 2016 Reading Challenge Jenn

Cute Dragon Finished?

Image
I think I am finished with this dragon for the moment. Yes I could spend days on him but I need to do some more research for uni and teach myself to use Adobe Muse and Mudbox (another 3D program). Lots of learning to do and try not to pass out from coughing. I would spend more time on his feet but for the moment they will work. It is easy enough to come back to it in the future when inspiration kicks in. I like how he looks from the back. Simple, but still register as being a type of dragon. And a side view. I need to start adding bases to these so they don't look like they are floating in the air. Up next with the 3D work, I either want to make a unicorn or Pegasus.

Cough Cough Cough

Image
Three sketches done in between coughing like I smoke 10 packs a day. One of John's hats and a tin flashlight. And yes I have drawn glass bottles before but this is full of cough syrup, which doesn't feel like its even doing anything, but it might be.

Big Paws

Image
Decided to see how big cat like paws would look on the cute 3D dragon. I think they looks ok, still need a bit of work but talon type feet were just not looking right with this scuplt. Looked really odd since most of him is round and fat looking. Still need to work on his tail, it needs some little spikes and I might  put a small amount of scale detail on him, but no too much to be distracting. Now, back to coughing lol

Cartoon Me

Image
Quick drawing of a little cartoon me. I wanted something simple and easy to draw again. For the actual comic I want it to be a tad more detailed but since I don't know what my comic for the module I am doing at Uni is going to be about yet, or have a story written, (need to really narrow down ideas tomorrow), the art style can wait until I have the idea set in stone. (I have a few ideas, but not sure if they will work for a 6-8 page comic or be too long actually) I would be crazy to do a comic in Painter, and we are using a different program anyway, (which I need to really take a look at later tonight). But I do think it would look really interesting to have a comic done with Painter, there is probably one out there that has a similar look to it so might do some searching.

Odd Feet

Image
I need to do something with his feet but not sure what. Def. need smoothing out but I am not sure how much detail to add. Might just keep him a smooth dragon without any scales. And of course I have a chest infection so have more antibiotics to take on top of the ones I was taking for an infected tooth which will more than likely end up getting pulled anyway since its cracked. I chipped it the beginning of summer but obvs did more damage to it than I thought because the xray shows a crack that is causing a lot of pain. I love my teeth lol So todays sketch is of the antibiotics. And of course my pen died and I couldn't find another one to finish this....

Sketches #237-239

Image
I've been sick the last 3 days, still am, so haven't really felt like drawing which is a problem since I need to come up with a simple 3 panel comic of me as a superhero lol I figured if I didn't quickly draw for my challenge I would probably end up giving up on it and these were not drawn one a day, but I can't stop coughing lol Typing is hard enough

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
I had never actually heard of this story by H.G. Wells before, but because of a project we are doing for Uni where we have to research a year of his life (1910 is my year), I found he had written 2 books and this is one of them. I might get around to reading the other one if I get the time and no we didn't have to read any of his books for the project, I just thought it sounded interesting enough to read lol   Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller My rating: 2 of 5 stars The panel layout in this made it so hard to read. There were a lot of times I wasn't sure who was talking or what was going on. Yes its dark, and at the time it was released it was groundbreaking, but now it doesn't seem like anything new and the story just drags on and on and on....Some of the full spread pages were nice but over all I have no idea why a lot of people rave about this graphic novel. The Sleeper Awakes by H.G. Wells My rating: 3 of 5 stars Slow to start, but once the
