April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'Z'

Image
'Z' is for zinc. A zinc plate for etching which I never finished. I used copper at the same time and liked etching on that but I found the zinc too soft and hard to get any kind of detail. I could try again, lots of space left to practice on this plate.

Music Monday

Image
Today's music monday is "I want to fight your father" by The RubberBandits . Also in lieu of the last few weeks have a few more by them below   Horse Outside I Like to shift girls And lastly one of their more bizarre ones Black Man (not what you think from the title) John

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'Y'

Image
Yupo for letter 'Y'. I have a love/hate relationship with yupo. Love how the texture looks when paint dries on it but hate how hard it is to control the paint when wet. I should use it more and practice, but once again, no time too lol

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'X'

Image
Technically not xacto knives but similar and we do have actual ones somewhere but no idea where lol The tiny scalpel one is great for getting precise cuts and for paper crafts.

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'W'

Image
'W' for the A-Z Challenge was an easy one to think of supplies to use, of course they had to be watercolours. I don't use tube watercolours  very often, i find it just easier using pans and usually not as messy. The tubes have a habit of blowing up on me lol

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'V'

Image
Getting close to the parts of the alphabet were trying to think of an art supply for the letter gets a bit tricky. Here is 'V', velour. Its paper, but fuzzy paper lol I like it but its not my favourite for pastels and not something I would recommend to someone just starting to use pastels because blending on it can be very hard sometimes. Use something with a bit of tooth or texture to it when first starting to use pastels.

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'T', 'U'

Image
All caught up with the challenge now with the posting of 'T' and 'U'. A triangle and some tortillions for 'T' and some Uni-ball pens for 'U'. The white gel pen Uni-ball is great, dries really white unlike some that fade and are never that vibrant no matter how many layers you use.

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'R', 'S'

Image
Appointment today at ophthalmology to see about my eye, yep another confirmation it is optic neuritis , so since it is getting worse I have to now wait and see if neurology wants to give me steroids since I just had some in February. They don't like giving steroids too many times but they might put me on a long term dose of steroids, yay no sleeping for me lol Continuing with the A-Z Challenge, ruler for 'R'. I have a lot of rulers scattered around the house since you never know when you might need one. 'S' is for stencils. I have a lot of letter stencils and a bunch of various ones from the free art haul I got a few years ago. They works great with a gelli plate when I have time to use it.

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'O', 'P', 'Q'

Image
Catching up on the A-Z challenge now that I have one essay done and another half done. Vision is still messed up but I have an appointment to get that looked at next week. Its optic neuritis, just a really bad case of it since the vision from my right eye is pretty fuzzy and it is like I am only seeing out of half of it. Anyway, 'O' is for oil paints which I haven't used in years since they set of my asthma but  I might try to paint outside and see what happens. 'P' is for pastels. I have A LOT of pastels. There is a giant tub full of them so wont need to buy any for a long time if ever lol I'm cheating a bit with this one. 'Q' is for QWERTY. I do use my keyboard with digital art so it could be counted as an art supply if you stretch your imagination a bit.

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'M' and 'N'

Image
Still busy with essays, still having eye problems and bad headaches, need more time in the day to get things done lol 'M' is for markers, these are Copic Ciao markers, the round shape is easier for me to hold and while not cheap, not as much money as some of the other Copics. 'N' is for nibs for my dip pen. I really only use the thin one to mostly sketch with or for pointillism, my hands are nowhere near steady enough to use the other nibs for calligraphy anymore.

Weekly Book Update

Accessing the Future: A Disability-Themed Anthology of Speculative Fiction by Kathryn Allan My rating: 4 of 5 stars Nice assortment of SF dealing with various forms of disability and it does a good job of seeing the characters as individuals rather than focusing just on their disability like so much literature does. April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 'L'

Image
Still have a migraine and messed up vision but the show must go on and  I have work that is due. Todays letter is 'L' and I am going to use a photo of a bunch of lino and lino tools for the letter. I do usually clean my plates, but i usually just use these know for gelli printing so they don't have to be clean.

April Blogging from A to Z Challenge H,I,J,K

Image
I've had a migraine from HELL since Tuesday, still have a migraine and can't see properly out of  my right eye, so yay back to the Drs on Monday if that doesn't get any better. Not the best time for that to happen since I have 2 essays due soon and had a presentation on Wednesday I had to reschedule since I can't see properly and can't concentrate. If this is what a migraine feels like, what the hell had I been getting before that I was told was a migraine? Anyway, back to the alphabet. 'H' is for a Hake brush, this one has seen better days. 'I' is for inks which needs a dusting off lol 'J' is for jars, free after using for food and handy for storing pens and pencils. And 'K' is a knife. One lonely little palette knife
