Inktober #31

Image
Conveniently, Sky has a pumpkin toy I can sketch for today :p

10 Years

Image
10 year wedding anniversary today. And no I haven't gotten him into a kilt since :p

Inktober #30

Image
A rabbit from Ikea that Sky loves to try to destroy :p

Inktober #29

Image
Pikachu! I've never actually played any pokemon, so only know Pikachu. Never watched the cartoon either, just very odd show for kids.

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
Easter dragons from 10 years ago.I really wish I had the time to redo this one right now, improve all the things that bug me about it :p

Back to the Draft Horse

Image
Its been awhile since I worked on this Draft horse and since I had nothing else to do, thought I probably should get some work done on it. Slowly building up the neck area, need to darken it slightly. Then onto the tack, which hopefully will not take that long. And hopefully its not another 6 or more weeks before I work on it again :p

Inktober #27

Image
I've been trying to draw this crocodile for the last 2 days but every time I would try, Sky would just start crying for it, so had to wait until she was sleeping :p

Inktober #26

Image
Supposed to be a penguin lol This is about the size of Sky's head but she still plays with it.

Finished Mask

Image
Finished the mask for Uni. Its dark, but the show is dark, and the main character is always getting his ass kicked, hence all the red. Now I need to get "proper" photos of it and design a poster for the show from the photos. But not going to Uni tomorrow, trip to the dentist is called for since my tooth is killing me. Just pull the thing already :p

Rudolph :) One of many kids toys that are now the dog's. For a lot of her toys, we've found that toys meant for kids seem to last longer than ones meant for dogs. And are often a lot cheaper :p

Inktober #24

Image
The last of my toys in this room, now to sketch the dog's toys which are everywhere but that means she has lots of choice and doesn't get bored like a lot of Border Collies can and start chewing on furniture.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
3 Books for this week, and even tho one is mostly pictures of ads I'm counting it lol Culture Is Our Business by Marshall McLuhan My rating: 3 of 5 stars Probably not for everyone due to the layout of the book, its all quotes or sayings. Interesting ideas, but a lot of it is badly dated, but it was written 45 years ago.  The Golden Age of Advertising - the 50's by Willie Wilkerson My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is full of a lot of different ads to look at, a larger format would have been nice, but still a great look into advertising and social history. Hardly any text so great if you just want to look at images, but not so good for info about the ads themselves. The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin My rating: 2 of 5 stars Don't get the love for this book at all. Horribly written, dry, boring characters, at least 50 pages too long. I had to force myself to finish this book, it just seems to drag on, probably due to the horrible writing. View all my re

Image
A snowman dressed as a wizard. Running out of toys to draw lol might end up having to sketch a few dog toys for the last few days. I'm sure she wont mind....

Flower Friday

Image
Love rhododendrons but so does Sky, and since they are toxic to dogs we can't have any as she tries to eat the sticks. I just love the colours they come in, and these are now in John's parents yard since they have more space for them.

Inktober #22

Image
A little teddy bear wearing a blue t-shirt. I was going to sketch the really big bear I have, but it kept falling over onto the paper as I was trying to draw it lol

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
Simple flower done in coloured pencil. This was actually from a photo taken in New Zealand, the flower was just stuck between the wooden slats of a bench half way up Baldwin Street . Def. need a seat climbing that hill if you are not use to it :p

Inktober #21

Image
Easter Eeyore holding a little chicken :p And yes, I have even more Eeyore's I could draw but will try to find other toys to sketch.

Inktober #20

Image
Australian Winnie the Pooh. Who looks like he is strangling a Kangaroo lol

Barn Owl Update

Image
Starting to look better, still needs a bit more shading to the top of the head but not looking so flat anymore. Started to etch the body feathers, which should look fluffy when done, but that can sometimes be tricky to pull off with etchings. I had wanted to get this done so I could try to get a print off of it and try to enter it in a show, but thats probably not going to happen due to time. So I am going to try to print off of a different plate and try to enter some of my eagles instead.

Inktober #19

Image
Horton from Horton hears a Who. Didn't even know I had this until I went searching for Winnie the Pooh, which I found behind the futon lol

Music Monday

Image
I could have put up faster versions of this, but not sure people would have understood it :p

Inktober #18

Image
A sock monkey! A pink leopard spotted one actually, but I ran out of time to draw the spots :p

72 Days Later

Image
Well, 72 days if I did the math right since jaw surgery . The scar is looking good and my hair has grown back about an inch where they shaved it, (not that you could tell it was shaved unless I pointed it out in the first place). Face is still numb, and painful to touch. And drooling is fun....TMI?? meh :p I can open my jaw better than I could before but too painful to actually chew anything on my left side. Could be nerve damage, could be because I need a root canal on the 20th, time will tell. Still getting a small piece of gold in my eyelid to try to help it close properly, which I can't wait for since it will hopefully also help with my vision being able to use my eyelid the way it should work, (being able to blink properly). So its good I can open my mouth properly now, but the nerve damage (burning, tingling feeling), is def. worse this time.

John's owl from his Uni graduation. Sits on a book shelf surrounded by dragons and shot glasses lol

Book Wrap Up Oct, 17 2015

Image
Three books this week. Ok, so one was a kids book but it still counts, and read mainly for the design work so counts as reasearch for Uni to lol   The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt My rating: 3 of 5 stars yes. its a children's book, but I thought it was cute and it brought a smile to my face :) The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein My rating: 4 of 5 stars Would have been 5 but the ending was way too predictable. Normally I don't like heavily political stories, but this one I didn't find boring. I think the AI computer helped with that, smart as hell but still a child really, so tends to play childish pranks. Interesting characters and the world building for the moon was well done. Designing Brand Experiences: Creating Powerful Integrated Brand Solutions by Robin Landa My rating: 3 of 5 stars Good branding examples, nice full colour photos and easy to follow. Tad dry at points tho, but its not exactly the easiest subject too make excitin

Flower Friday

Image
A couple of white flowers for today. Looked really nice surronded by the orange and yellow flowers. Type of rose maybe? I can't remember lol

Inktober #16

Image
Another Eeyore :) 3 or 4 left I could draw if I can't find any other toys to sketch. There is a Winnie the Pooh around too if I can find him under the pile of books lol

Inktober #15

Image
Found the Tigger toy. Stashed away on the top of the bookshelf, hidden by dusty cameras :p

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
I'm running out of dragons to post for Throwback Thursday. There is a other art to post but most of it is probably back in Canada in mom's basement.

Inktober #14

Image
Another bear, supposed to be a Polar Bear this time. Got this from John when he worked at Borders when it was in Dundee. Not the cheapest place to buy books, but it was a really nice store to kill time in and look at all the books.

The Ugly Stage

Image
A lot of art techniques have an ugly stage. The moment where work is progressing but things just don't look right lol This, is that stage. The top of the head is filled in, but still needs shading, so looks very odd. This is also the stage where things can go very. very wrong but hopefully not. *crosses fingers*

Inktober #13

Image
Of course I have a few teddy bears laying around, but usually hidden or up high on a shelf so the dog doesn't think they are hers :p

Inktober #12

Image
Even tho experiment 626 is my favorite Disney character, I've never thought to try to draw him. Need practice lol but I have a few more to sketch from so hopefully improve :p

Music Monday

Image
Apparently going through a country music phase :p

Inktober #11

Image
A dog stuffie that sits on one of the book shelves. Sky was side eyeing this as it sat on my desk, she really wanted it for herself lol Linking to Sunday Sketches as well as #inktober :)
