Blue

Image
No, not blue from a bad hair cut, I like the way my hair looks. So much better short, I was literally blue :p Blue pastels everywhere. I probably should have gotten more done on this since it was a long pose drawing, but I kept having to get up and walk around the level to stop myself from falling asleep.

Its Dry!

Image
Not much left on the mold tho :p Had to rip it away from the mask to get the mask off. But its dry and not really that heavy, just need to even up the edges and start adding the textures and lots of feathers when I get them.... So tempting to make a feather headdress....must resist.....

Making a Mess

Image
I forgot how messy paper mache is :p There was goopy stuff flying all over, the desks, floor, me, probably the ceiling.... Side view, showing the shape of the mask better. A layer of brown paper over the newspaper. Still needs textures added and painted of course, but it needs to dry...I'm hoping it dries :p

Portraits

Image
Getting better, but still need practice. It looks human, but not like the model :p

More Design

Image
More design work. Really like this effect, the original motif can sort of be seen but its all about experimenting :) Its getting easier to use GIMP, and if I get really stuck, google :p

blagh haggis

Image
never again!

Design Work

Image
So in this block we have to design a few motifs, its something I love doing and find it pretty easy, but its one of the things I did spend a lot of time on in high school. I took a simple little design and then made it into a colourful wheel and then played around a bit :D I really like the dark with the colours inverted. No idea really what I will do with them, but tiles or fabric would probably look pretty nice :)

Year of the Dragon

Image
For sale Prints *dances* Finally finished :p I want to do another one now :D

Scottish Word of the Week

This weeks word is, wheech Last weeks word, fleysome means frightening

Ouch

Image
I think I'm  done, and only cut myself once with the cutter. Forgot how sharp they are, could have been worse, could still be stuck in my finger. Only did that once and it was a sewing machine needle that went through my thumbnail, that hurt :p I think next time I do a reduction print, I think a simpler image would be a good idea :p

Bondage or Art?

Image
One of three image transfer in my self portrait series. Still needs work but this is the basic photo transferred onto a canvas. The speak no evil image when seen on its own looks almost like a bondage picture :p But it was still too wet to move to take a pic of. Now I have to figure out what to do with them, I have no idea lol I only had the idea of putting the pics onto canvas, but since its mixed media I need to add more. The canvas's look like they need something, too empty at the moment.

Charcoal Doesn't Taste Good

Image
Life drawing today, which turned out so much better than Monday when it seemed like I had forgotten how to draw :/ *note to self, don't take pictures at an angle, makes the drawing look funny :p I tend to forget my hands are usually covered  in charcoal, so when I go to brush a hair off my face, the dust has a habit of getting on my lips, yummy, charcoal *blagh*

Glow?

Image
This is actually a negative copy of a rough sketch for my dragon mask. I like how it looks like neon lights, now if only I could think of an easy and safe way to make a glowing dragon. I did ask my teacher about the print edition problem, he told me that because they look different they should be labelled as artist proofs, not worth any less, but that is how they are labelled. I'm doing 3 self portraits for mixed media, using the 3 wise monkeys, see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil; so I had to take a few pictures with my eyes covered. The one with my mouth covered looks a little bit more like bondage then I would have liked, but they work as a set :p

Editions?

Image
The art that will never be finished :p Slight problem with these prints, well its not really a problem, I just don't know how to label them. I know the basics on how to sign edition prints, but I don't know what to do when the prints don't look the same. The one posted above I think is the best of the lot, but if things go to plan with the last 2 colours, I should have 5 finished prints, 3 that I think would be worth trying to sell. I need to find out do I label them as an edition of 5 or because they do look different, but use the same paper and printing materials they would be classed as monoprints :/ Its very confusing

Scottish Word of the Week

(not Scotland, Kingswear in Devon) This weeks word is fleysome Answers to last weeks words: 1. farl is an oatcake or shortbread cut into 3 sides 2. smore means to smother

Stripes WIP

Image
So far, so good. The pencils are laying down fairly easily on the paper and I can put light over dark pencils as long as the under layer isn't too thick. Like most sanded papers, there is a lot of pencil dust and it will need to be sprayed with fixative to stop from smudging.

New Paper

Image
Mi- Tientes Touch paper sample. To try it out I'm just going to do something simple and use my polys. The texture reminds me a lot of Fischer paper but the reverse side is like the smoother side of the normal Mi-Tientes paper. Nice to draw something that isn't for college :p

funny ha ha

Image
hmmm so I guess the mystery project wasn't much of a mystery :p Its a dragon, well thats the plan anyway. Need to get peacock feathers and gold paint, debating whether to have eye hoes or use some shiny beads i have for the eyes. It will be wall mounted so not too worried about weight as its not going to be worn. Days like today make me wish we had a maid :p No art but here have a laugh :)

Mystery Project

Image
The start of a new project, any guess as to what it is supposed to be?

Feets!

Image
I really need to practice on hands and feet in life drawing class, so I am trying to focus on that right now. Todays class went really well I thought :) Hey! They look like feet, rather than stumps :p

Moo

Image
Back to college and the cow skull makes an evil appearance :p My right hand was pretty much 100% numb so I figured what the hell, just make a mess :)

Scottish Word of the Week

Image
glamis 2011 , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. 2 words this week since last week was Xmas and I forgot to post a word :p 1. farl 2. smore The last word, gowan refers to daisies

Almost Done!!

Image
One more colour to go and I will be done with this finally :p *dances* Some things I would change, but there are parts I really do like on each print. Yes they are all on the same paper, but I would say this will probably be an edition of 2 or 3, not 7 as the rest all look too different to be part of an edition (at least I think so, could be wrong tho....)

grrr! roar!!

Image
Mom took me to see the original on the big screen when it came out, and yes it was great seeing the dinos on the giant screen, but I will never forget leaving the cinema with a black eye :p When the raptor jumps out at Ellie, my mother jumped and elbowed me in the face :p And don't worry. I wont be posting the 365 photos everyday here, because that would get boring pretty fast :p There is a little widget to the left with a link to the site I am posting the pictures on if anyone wants to look when I don't post the photo here.

Wordless Wednesday

Another 365?

Image
A blue paint pass and I had paint left over so.... The start of another 365, and hopefully I don't run out of ideas this time :p (I look tired)

White Pass

Image
Normally you don't put white on a print at this stage, but there is a method to my madness :p Hopefully at least lol Starting to sort of look like a dragon rather than a blob of colours. Not looking like the sketch but that is probably because this is only my second reduction lino print. Not much left to cut away now. I think 4 passes left as long as the paper holds up.

Green Thumb...

Image
no I haven't learned to garden without killing anything :p Got green paint all over my thumbs printing this :p Since I am not using any medium in the paint, the print is getting a very rough/distressed look. I like it :) Wouldn't work with different prints, but I think it works well here.
