Making a Mess
I forgot how messy paper mache is :p There was goopy stuff flying all over, the desks, floor, me, probably the ceiling....
Side view, showing the shape of the mask better.
A layer of brown paper over the newspaper. Still needs textures added and painted of course, but it needs to dry...I'm hoping it dries :p

Oh, FUN! I can't remember the last time I did papier mache... Although I do remember the mess! Hmm... and the unique smell of the paste. Will cross my fingers for speedy drying...Do I detect a fuzzy dragon shape?
ReplyDeleteyep, a fuzzy dragon :D i put some all spice in the mixture, which really helped with the smell :D smelt like i was making a cake :p
DeleteLove papier mache!! My friend made fabulous masks a few years ago. The floor heating at school dried it out really fast!!
ReplyDeletei have seen some really nice masks done with it, this one is stuck near the radiator so hopefully should be dry tomorrow
DeleteLooks like a FUN mess:)
ReplyDeleteit was fun, just have to remember to wear older clothes next time :p
DeleteVery cool! I'd love to try that again. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece!
ReplyDeletethanks michelle :)
DeleteLooks like fun but I'd hate the clean up afterwards.
ReplyDeletetook over half an hour to clean up lol
DeleteCan't wait to see the finished (dragon?) mask.I remember doing paper mache at school. We used wallpaper paste and newspaper strips. We made piggy money boxes. The paper strips were pasted over a balloon and done in layers. Then we used egg carton segments for the feet and snout and a pipe cleaner for the tail. Loads of fun!
