The Ugly Stage
A lot of art techniques have an ugly stage. The moment where work is progressing but things just don't look right lol
This, is that stage.
The top of the head is filled in, but still needs shading, so looks very odd. This is also the stage where things can go very. very wrong but hopefully not. *crosses fingers*

It's looking good! I'm sure it will look even better as you proceed. I love owls!
ReplyDeletethank you Lisa :) love them too :)
DeleteLooking good! I know you'll get over the "ugly" stage [also known as the "what-the-heck-am-I-doing" stage] Been there often with painting. :)

"what-the-heck-am-I-doing" is a much better name for it :)
DeleteYou are definitely up to the challenge!!
ReplyDeletethanks Chris, certainly going to try :)
DeleteBeauty is in the eye of the beholder...I find this very appealing in its unfinished stage. LOVE OWLS!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, you've named it...that said, wouldn't call it 'ugly' but that fist-clenching moment halfway where you can see the sublime emerging, and know that one wrong line can completely blow it. Hope it's still moving to sublime.
