Bagpipes from the Countryside Festival

Have some bagpipes! (4 minutes of them). But be warned if you watch this you might end up hearing bagpipes in your head for days. (and yes that is me in the bottom corner, I thought John was behind me, but didn't realize that I was going to be in the video :/ ). I was still hearing the bagpipes and drums once and awhile in my head yesterday, I thought they were playing outside (which does happen when people get married in the church down the street), but no it was all in my head.

If anyone has any idea the name of the song they are playing, please let me know :)

Todays Scottish word:
1) ronepipe

Answer to yesterdays Scottish word:
1) fash means to trouble or annoy (no one here had ever heard of it before,...strange...)

Oh, so I got it right! After a few pints , one is annoying, and can run fash :)
These words have been more than fun, and definitely enlightening!
I was taken to the Highland Games, American style, when I was a tiny child. I have STRONG nostalgic fondness for bagpipes. The drumming cadence is so unusual. I can hear the same cadence in the Scottish language, too.
Thanks Miss Jennifer, for your very fun blog!

  3. I love bagpipes!! One fellow I knew in high-school was in a bagpipe band and they were in high demand for a lot of public functions. Who knew so many people liked bagpipes?

I love the horse ACEO from the previous post, he really does glow. I would've named him "Golden Boy"! ;)

  4. In music class in high school, we were starting to learn how to play the bagpipes, but I never finished the class (the teacher and I did not get along....) I do admire people that play them though, takes lots of practice (and air :p) Maybe its the beat that people like so much???

Thats a good title! It does glow, but I'm a little scared that it glows a little more here than it does in real life when viewed on certain monitors :/

  5. I only say that because there are 3 different monitors in the house and the colours vary so much on them :/

I am laughing out loud at Pratchett's writing. Dan, at Not the New Scientist, on my blogroll, turned me on to him.

Yep, the Cody art is enviable. I keep thinking, "How'd he DO that?"
