Eagle Update Number...I've Lost count :p

hmmm. I am not 100% sure about this now. All the angles look off to me (she looks a little cross eyed), so might be doing this again. I could be completely insane and do it with pointillism, but I might run out of ink. Probably leave it for a few days and then see what I think.

A good thing that has come out of writing a blog (besides finding lots of nice people), is that I am not afraid to post WIPs. If I mess up I mess up. I figure other people might learn from my mistakes and if it does turn out, I figure it can help people learn how to do something. Took me a few posts on some message forums before I became comfortable enough to post rough work and WIPs, but I do think my art is better off for it. And a lot of the time posting a WIP gets more sets of eyes looking at it that can help with composition and can help make sure the basic sketch is all right.

  1. Your rock sketch is beautiful!! I love it.
Yes we all make mistakes and because we all are artists we understand that we cannot be perfect all the time.

  2. I think it is coming along great. It really is beginning to shine through now.
IMO, the only reason the eyes look odd is because there is more shine in the left eye as I am looking at it that the right. This may well be your reference photo, sometimes an photographic image will do this but somehow it shows up more in art. It is simply just flattening out the one eye a little, easily sorted with a dab of an electric erasor.
The fur texture is looking great and it is now popping off the background.

  3. I agree with Chrissy - I think the construction of the eyes is spot on - the only thing that is lacking is a catchlight in the right eye. It's looking wonderful - and I'd love to see it in pointillism, myself - it would be brilliant...

Diahn- thanks for your comment :) I shouldn't have said I wanted to do this in pointillism, now I don't want to finish it lol
