Fuzzydragons

Its that time of year again where a group of people try to post everyday in October. It can be a great way to find new blogs to read :) I'm going to try to post everyday, *crosses fingers* but since I seem to have caught either a cold or the flu, if I miss a day or 2 I will not be that upset :p

Prints for Sale Finished, but I still don't have a title :p I need to think of one for entering it into the winter show in town. I have a few weeks to think of a title so hopefully think of one before long *crosses fingers*

I need a hair cut :p How did I walk around as a teenager with my hair in my eyes all the time? Any guesses as to what this is supposed to be??

lioness11 , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. Small update because my hand went numb the other day. Kind of hard to draw when you can't feel where your hand is :/ So she is starting to get a fluffy neck, just might take awhile....(the drawing that is never done it seems :p)

Well almost done the lioness, nowhere near down the background :p And once she is all coloured I need to go back and darken the values more, they are a little light right now, but I didn't want to go too dark right away. Almost impossible to lighten really dark areas of coloured pencil. You either wreck the paper getting the pigment off, leave a tape residue on the paper if you use to tape to lift colour, or you just can't get any of the colour off because the pencil has been put down so hard. Which is why you tend to use lots of light layers of pencil instead of putting down dark colours right away. And coloured pencil tends to look better the more layers you use anyway, doesn't look so flat.

I love doing ears on cats.  So fluffy :p So this is the start of the lioness' ear. Put the highlights in and put in a light hint of where the darks go. You don't want to go too dark right away because you will probably put a few light colours over the dark which isn't possible if you go too dark right off the bat. The ear is a little too far forward, but hopefully that won't be too noticable once the ear is done.

5 minute sketch I didn't notice how pudgy Robins are here before. Little fat balls of feathers with big attitudes:p

I really need to think of a title for this. Roar doesn't mfit...well because she isn't roaring :p Maybe when its all coloured something will come to me. Hopefully :p

About an hour and a half worths of work tonight filling in the white fur and darkening up a few spots on the face. She has a very blockish head, but it might still look ok once more is filled in.

You would think that with a name like Alphonsus it would be easy to find in records...but no. Lots of McGlades with that name, and lots of Irish catholics with that name. I need to find a link between Alphonsus and my grandfather and then I will know this is the right Michael McGlade. I don't know anything about my great grandfather and no one else really know, so trying to find some kind of link is turning into a nightmare :p But its interesting, and if this is the right Michael, we can go back to his dad and find more about his family.

A small update on the lioness. Dakrened up a few areas and defined the muzzle more. Slow going on this one for some reason.

Its actually very tempting to just hint at the lioness and not actually colour all of her fur. Have it so she looks like she is coming out of the paper. I will probably colour all of the fur tho, she has a really nice red gold coat.

After a weekend of researching about dadaism, I needed to draw something that you can tell what it is :p The title isn't going to be Roar, but I needed a filler title for the moment. Pissed off Lioness doesn't really work for a blog title :p
