Fall Totem

So, I need one A2 sized painting for a class, decided to do a few trail runs before the final piece. Taking a few ideas from my sketchbook, this is the first trail run. I really like the background, the colours turned out great, not too keen on the totem pole. Besides being lop sided :p it just doesn't go with the background.

  1. I like the background too. Looks like an autumns day.

  2. I agree - that background is wonderful. I like the totem too. Maybe just put some of the blue-grays of the totem into the background a little bit to tie it together? And I am loving those contour drawings below! Absolutely do more :-)

  3. Love that background! :) Maybe try making the totem look less solid, more "wispy" like the background. Like a contour drawing perhaps?

    1. thanks :) i think that is part of the problem of why i don't like the totem pole, its so different from the background painting

  4. Love the colours, the cool blues in the totem, and the warm fall colours in the background. Ann's advice would be mine. Those colours go very well together.
