Ouch

Managed to stab myself twice carving this, and I am nowhere near done. So crossing my fingers I don't stab myself too many more time, would have to buy more band-aids :p

Going to be 3 colours, white, red and black. I think the design would actually work better done as a silk screen print, but we are not doing screen printing this block :(

  1. Who was the bright spark who said 'you have to suffer for your art'?? I'm sure he didn't mean you need to keep stabbing yourself LOL

Hope you finish it before you run out of Ban-Aids

  2. That looks like the hard stuff, meaning you have to put some muscle behind the carve, meaning when you slip, ouch! I recall from art college we had these plywood boards, with a raised edge on one side. Lino was push up against the edge with your left (or 'off' hand) and that left you free to carve in the direction away from your body (and other hand). Just a thought. And yes, silk screen layers come to mind, but lino has its own look, and will add its own voice to the work. Let it happen.

    1. it is actually the soft stuff so not too hard to cut, but the blades seem to slip easier when cutting :/

something that looks like this? i have a pretty big one which works great but my hands still seem to get in the way :p

  4. Nice! :) I used to stab myself a lot when doing lino cuts, too. I hope you still have some fingers left by the time this project is done! ;)
I think it would make an awesome silk screen, too :)
