Poly Art-Dog

The start of making more poly art. This time from a photo of a husky. I'm just practicing using some programs to see which ones I prefer. Not using Illustrator for most of this one, but doing this the long way with a program like Illustrator does give you more control of where the triangles go, but can take a lot longer.

The daily sketch for today is part of an ink brush. I've never actual used it, usually just use normal everyday brushes when I use ink.

  1. Your poly pup is looking great! The ink brush is beautifully sketched.

  2. Hi Jennifer,
Completely fascinating what you're able to do with the poly art. In this case, you've created a perfect illustration of how humans "finish the job" the artist starts, making sense out of triangles and two eyes and a nose. Amazing.
    Enjoy the day!
    Sincerely,
    Gary

    1. thanks Gary :) I really enjoy making the poly art, whether it is with a program that does it or by "hand" in Illustrator with the pen tool :)

  5. Your poly art is amazing and I am totally captivated by it. Apparently it all comes together through values. Your drawings have helped your values - right? Or does the app do that bit.
Drawing of the brush is good - dog is FABULOUS!

    1. Its a bit of both. the values and colours on the drawing or photo will, generally with the apps, dictate where the triangles go, but you are usually in charge of where the triangles end up, so you can move them around or delete them if they do not look right value/colour wise. With illustrator or photoshop, you really do rely on the values and colours to figure out where the shapes go. You have a bit more control with Illustrator then with the apps, you just have to make a lot of shapes over and over again by "hand"

hard to explain without an example so I really need to make a tutorial for it. but generally even if I use an app/poly art program I usually end up taking the image into Illustrator to mess around with, either because the colours are wrong or the image values need changing. This comment was probably really confusing lol
