Tap Tap Tap

When you hear these tapping away at trees it can actually be pretty loud, which is a problem when its right outside your bedroom window lol

  1. Ah, yes. Have had one right outside the window. I was not very nice.

  2. Love your drawing - you captured how their tail slants towards the tree.
They come to our feeders, but as we have a stucco house - no damage! I put on a hanging wood log with peanut/butter suet crammed into notches for them to tap away on . I love their feather patterns!

  5. Oh, what about when they are tapping on the metal downspouts to your house?!? ha ha. I thought this tapping was them tapping holes in trees but have read that this is the males, telling others that this is their territory and stay away - hence they tap on anything! Really loud when it's metal! ha ha. They have to have super-hard heads.

  6. Oh I love this! I have only seen woodpeckers rarely and photographed them from afar so I have not encountered their noisy nature...
