Capercaillie
When you go up to the hills, you do sometimes see these birds on the side of the road, alive not dead tho. Capercaillie are not tiny birds, but not huge, about the size of a turkey so you really wouldn't want to hit one with your car. Or be chased by an angry male lol
Lovely sketch, Jennifer. I have never seen this word before much less seen the bird. I will have to google to see if it has a name I am familiar with. If it is the size of a turkey, you are correct. I don't want to mess up my car with its carcass.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how you can get so much expression and detail in a sort of "scribble"-drawing....
ReplyDeleteI can almost see that bird walking off the page...such a great job. I'm with Denthe on that!! Such a cool style!

Wonderful sketch! You have really captured the posturing of the bird. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful sketch. When living in N. Idaho there was 3 types of grouse. They can be fighters but they are really good eating.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly gave that bird a lot of personality. I bet it shows a BIG personality if you happen to cross in it's path.
