A very round pigeon for #38 left handed sketch. The bane of most cities, but if people would stop feeding them their trash they wouldn't be as big of a problem as the are.
People in Detroit used to call them flying rats. I always loved them as a little girl, though. Don't see them where I live now (in Pacific Northwest). Great sketch!
They are a nuisance but I think in london it is now largely controlled. About two houses down on our road the people there are raring pigeons or just have them. They could be doves even I don't know. I see they flying every morning in formation at the back. You are sketching so well with your left hand. Well done
I love pigeons. I love their colours, how they move and their soft chirps. I know they can be a nuisance in cities, but that's more about buildings mimicking their roosting/nesting areas. Poor beasts are just doing what comes naturally.
You'll be ambidextrous before you know it. Great sketch.
thanks Lisa :) that is another good point for not feeding them, then they forget how to feed themselves
call them usually flying rats too Chris lol i dont think ive ever lived anywhere where there were no pigeons
Shashi, they are a big nuisance in dundee, people throw trash it seems like everywhere but the bin :/ racing pigeons usually come back home, but do have tags on them in case they dont )well they should at least)
Jeanette, not sure hoow well I will able to paint with my left, but will be fine sketching :) and you are right, they are just doing what is natural to them
This weeks colours for The Summer of Color are 2 purples and a yellow and this is what I did with them. Not my favorite colours so really racked my brain trying to think how I could use them and which bird to use. Decided to go with a juvenile Golden Eagle since I don't have any photos of a purple bird :p I think I prefer the black background, the yellow seems to stand out more against it. Which do you prefer?
I like pigeons, I don't feed them though as I don't want them to be reliant on me... Your sketch is charming and sweet.
