Sunday Sketches

Left handed sketch #111 of Great curassow, another new bird to me :)

Gobble Gobble! I'm not a fan of turkey, never could figure out why people like it so much.

A very simple looking parrot (#113), because I am having a problem with nerve pain in my hands and feet so tried to keep things simple. I have been referred to the pain clinic but there probably wont be much they can do and I don't want to take drugs that will make me either a zombie or high as a kite. The problem with a lot of the meds that are used to treat nerve pain due to MS is that the more you take so they work, the more you walk around like you are in a haze so you need to find that happy medium where you are not in so much pain but still awake lol

  3. I'm so sorry to hear of your pain Jennifer. It is a careful balancing act and sometimes one drug affects the other. I hope you find something that works for you. Your sketches are great. I have to admit I'd never heard of the Curassow so had to look it up!
Have a great week ahead and hopefully with a little less pain ;D

  4. Sorry to hear you are dealing with pain. I totally understand not wanting to rely on medication with all the side effects. I hope the pain clinic can show you how to get some relief.

Knowing that your hands are aching makes your drawings even more impressive.

  5. Oh, I wish you could be pain free without the drugs! You amaze me that you just keep going, like the Energizer Bunny :) I admire your strength.

  6. These are wonderful! I hope you're in less pain soon. It's hard to find a balance sometimes between what's helping and what's too much... You amaze me with all that you do.

    thanks Christine :)

Neesie, thank you :) I've pretty much tried all the pain meds the GP can give me, my neurologist might have something else but i dot see him until august so have to wait until then. might take up meditation in the mean time and see if that helps :)

thanks Paula :) trying to draw acts like a distraction from the pain :)

lol Rhonda, I wish I had that much energy :) and thank you :)

  10. I hope you can find that balance between pain and pain management. I can understand why you wouldn't want to walk around like a zombie even if it means being pain-free.

I enjoy your continued journey of sketching birds. Parrots are more fascinating than I had imagined. I've watched a couple of bird documentaries that talked about them in the wild.

  11. Wonderful sketches! I'm glad you pushed yourself to create them! Sometimes we have to keep pushing through the pain, though I wish scientists would come up with a cure for us. When mine gets out of hand, I find having someone massage arms/hands/legs... whatever is hurting at the time, has been helpful. It seems to ease it. Wishing you all the best!

  12. thanks NatureFootsteps :) just practice and I am sure you could :)

    thanks Alexandra :)

Juana, thank you :) parrots are great birds but so many people get them as pets not realizing how much work they are

thank you Nita :) When my nerve pain gets this bad, massages dont help, with they would tho, would be a non drug solution to the problem :)

  13. I'm sorry massages don't help. MS nerve pain is unrelenting at times. Mine is still relapsing/remitting, so it gets bad and then improves again. The summer heat is not helping. Well, enough about MS and me. I'm just glad I found your blog again!

  14. I hate the summer heat but this summer it seems like it wants to rain all the time (thats Scotland for you lol). I am still relapsing/remitting thankfully and being on Gilenya really seems to help me. I've been diagnosed about 10 years now, but they think I've probably had it since I was 17, so almost 20 years dealing with symptoms and walking around like I am drunk lol

thank you for your comments and visiting my blog :)
