Virtual Paintout-Guatemala

Yay finished the pastel I was working on the other day. This was for the virtual paintout but I cut it pretty close to the end to get it finished. Love how green it is, but green is my favourite colour.

I really need to figure out a way to deal with all the pastel dust. It gets everywhere and is going to stain everything soon if I don't find a way to contain it all.

Here is a close up showing some of the details and the colours. I have a very loose pastel style that tends to look better from a few feet away so the colours blend together to create the final image.

  5. Beautiful and serene.

I work upright on pastels, no blowing on them. Catch the dust in a paper or foil tray taped to my easel. Dust can be picked up dry with soft towel. Wet will stain something porous like wood or marble, but washes out of clothes and towels.

  7. Well, it's green! ha ha I have to admit, green is my least favorite color, but you've really gone all in on this one. Be careful with the pastel dust - bad for your lungs and it even gets in through your skin, I'm told. I hope you set up a good area where it's airy and clean and can take a good Hoovering after working on something. I do like this and how bold it is (didn't want you to think I didn't like it).

  10. A beautiful pastel Jennifer. I do admire how you are able to be so loose. I am constantly trying to do that, but it just never seems to happen.
    Have a great weekend.
