Gryphon Update #11

Image
I didn't get as much time as I wanted on this but I did manage to get more work done on the feather mane, almost done with it, yay. And then I need to start working on the body, which is going to be a lion's body, just beefed up a bit lol

Throwback Thursday

Image
Guess I was wrong when I said I had no more older art for Throwback Thursdays, found 2 more ATCs to post. A leopard eye from 2009 and a Tufted puffin from 2008. I need to draw more puffins, actually I need to go see the puffins one year when they show up down the coast.

End of Year Book Wrap Up

Image
Surprisingly I read a few books this year that I rated 5 stars over on Goodreads, so here is the list. Clockwork Boys by T. Kingfisher My rating: 5 of 5 stars It made me laugh, took less than a day to read and I really liked the characters. Interesting premise, nothing too new in the fantasy genre, but still interesting enough to keep me reading. Def a character driven book, but the characters are great and as usual for this author, the characters are as practical as possible View all my reviews   The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers My rating: 5 of 5 stars Very character driven story and a lot of varied characters of type and sex. If you want big space battles this story isn't for you, this story is more about how all these species interact with each other and live in outer space. Which I actually found refreshing since a lot of sci-fi is more about who to kill next lol View all my reviews   Embers of War by Gareth L. Powell

Gingerbread

Image
The house smells of gingerbread at the moment. Baked, OK John made the gingerbread lol and of course the dog wanted some.

Gryphon Update #10

Image
More feathers on the gryphon. Decided to start filling in the bigger feathers so I could see how they look and it was also a nice break from all the tiny feathers.

I'm really surprised she hasn't bit her tongue off yet.

Gryphon Update #9

Image
Back to working on my 3D gryphon now that I have some free time. Probably wont get it finished over the holidays with so many feathers to make but... I can at least try to get it finished.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
After London: or, Wild England by Richard Jefferies My rating: 3 of 5 stars More like 3.5 stars. slow paced but the world is wonderfully described. Very very early post apocalyptic SF (sort of) and it shows in the many many left open threads but its a good take on what might happen to society if everything goes tits up. I don't need to know what caused the problem so that didn't bug me about the novel, puts the reader in the same boat as the characters since they don't know either.
