Green Tree Python

Image
A low poly Green Tree Python . Always wanted one but know they were too much work for me to keep happy and healthy. A close up of some of the white pattern. I do like making these, they can sometimes feel like they take forever tho lol

Throwback Thursday

I miss my snake. This isn't mine, same kind, but this was at an animal place in Niagara Falls. The guy there looked pretty bored and let me hold some of the reptiles for probably longer than normal. I find it so odd people are scared of snakes. I can understand why in some cases, but honestly it really is just about educating people about snakes. Once you know which ones to def. avoid, ones like this one don't come across as scary. And I don't know how many times I have said to people they are not slimy. They feel like warm leather, not slimy at all. Well sea snakes might feel slimy since they might be a little wet, but you don't generally pick up sea snakes lol (venomous, try to avoid, but generally are not aggressive)

Throwback Thusday

Me in 2005, with a Ball python (called a Royal python here). I do not recommend putting a snake around your neck, very easy to get hurt, and you can never predict for sure what a snake will do, (obvs there are somethings you can predict the snake will do when feeding or in shed, or when annoyed). This snake tho, never showed any signs of aggression towards me, while he would strike at or bite other people or curl up in a ball, (defense mechanism). Even with food in the tank, he would never strike me if I needed to remove food or him, (using safe methods and tools). My baby Boa Constrictor tho, even at 7 inches I would have never done this with her. Big attitude and strength for such a little thing. So yeah, don't do this! lol Its not the best idea in the world. I miss having a snake, but don't have the space for a proper tank or the money for even a normal Ball python here. Would love a Leopard Mystc Piebald , they are gorgeous. Snakes are not slimy as many people...

Flickr Favourites

1. Ball Python - Python regius , 2. Spider Ball Python , 3. Albino ball python , 4. Pastel Ball Python I know snakes are not to everyone's liking, but I love them and miss my Ball Python :( One day I will have another one when we have the space and the money to take care of one properly. While they are low maintenance pets, they still need proper containment, proper food, and you should have a vet that can treat the snake if something happens to it. Also not being squeamish touching dead rats helps :p For more Flickr Favourites head on over here :)

Everyday in May #18

"Everyday in May #18" Copyright Jennifer Rose Phillip ACEO For someone who loves snakes I don't draw them enough :p hmm the angle on this is a little off so he looks a little crooked. Practice, practice, practice :) I have a lot of ref. pictures of my Ball Python that I had, so I will probably do a few more practice pieces of him and then I want to try to do a coloured pencil piece. The colours that his scales gave off when the sun hit them was just gorgeous and its the colours you don't think would be there. Lots of blues, purples and greens :) (even pink lol) Copyright Jennifer Rose Phillip This looks so odd right now. The eagle facing the viewer is at an odd angle that looks really wrong when its not shaded. I think everything is where it should be, but I will have another look at it tomorrow to make sure before I transfer it onto the watercolour paper. I made the bird in the backs head a little bigger then it probably should be but, but with a small head his/her e...

Orion ACEO

"Orion" Copyright Jennifer Rose Phillip 2.5 by 3.5 Inches £8 plus shipping Contact me if interested So because I think I need a bit of practice with graphite, I am going to try to do at least 1 ACEO a week in graphite. I figure its a small enough format I will still get the practice and its not so big it will take forever to complete something. So up first is a drawing of Orion when he was hanging out in a tree. He did seem to like being put in the trees and on the lawn, and it was a great photo opportunity. I was always outside with him, and if he was in a tree always under him and never let him get on a branch that I couldn't climb too. (I have had people ask me if I wasn't scared of him getting away. Nope. He was a lazy snake. And while I know he could have been fast, he never went any faster than a slow crawl. Even when the birds in the trees were near [free lunch! :p]) He never bit me, bit dad a few times :p He (or possibly she. Never had that found out), was a g...
