Snow!

Snowed today :D Not enough I think for things to grind to a halt but in some places they did (10 cms of snow is not a lot nor enough to stop the buses running I think). I feel old when I say my sister and I use to walk to school in more snow (but at least I haven't started to say it was 5 miles in the snow, uphill both ways :p) Why do people say that? lol

I think I'm done with this. Going to wait until tomorrow and then scan it if nothing else jumps out at me, or if no one has any suggestions for it. There isn't a huge size difference between the actual candy and the drawing, but here is a photo showing the size difference.

I really like the way that orange candy turned out. I thought using that using a few purples might not look the best but I think it makes it more striking. :)

  1. We don't get snow here EVER but it has been raining on and off this past week. People really say, "uphill both ways"?! Maybe it's just their idea of tongue in cheek humour. lol

  2. I'm happy to not have to deal with snow but it sure has been cold. I used to walk 3 miles to school and back in the snow many, many moons ago.

I'm another snow walker and it was 2 miles and uphill one way, LOL!! We all sure have had a lot of snow pictures to show this year so far!!
    Your candy picture looks great!!

  4. Your finished painting is great. You inspired me to try some candy next time I sketch. Love it and you did a great job.

And snow!! Glad you didn't get too much.

  5. Well, I did walk a mile to school in the snow- but it was level- no uphill treks. You had to live 1.5 miles from school to qualify for riding the school bus, and my home was exactly 1 mile, just my luck-LOL!

Love how your candy turned out ;)

  6. I walked to school, but not in snow, and not uphill, fortunately. We didn't have much snow, and few hills in my part of Texas. But we do have snow here in Maryland and I like it fine if I don't need to get out in it!

The sugared round at the top of the group is amazing!
Do you consider your signature *part* of the composition when you make a drawing? I always have difficulty deciding where to put it.

I don't have suitable footwear to be walking in the snow, but it does look pretty!

  11. I used to walk 6 miles to school and it was uphill halfway there and halfway back... Only kidding! Actually I went to boarding school so I was there already, lol! I hated it and kept trying to get expelled. It never worked:(

Everything ground to a halt down here on Monday. No public transport running and drivers advised not to. We're just not prepared here in the south. I guess you're much more used to it in Haggisland, specially you, coming from Canada! Then when I looked out yesterday it had all gone, all 5 inches of it (thank goodness!).

Love the candy picture; liquorice all sorts?

    Stay warm:) xxx

  12. Serena-yeah I use to hear it a lot when I was younger, sometimes people were serious, other times they were being cheeky :)

carla-I'm glad for the snow, it just seems odd to me for it to be so cold and not have any snow :)

kerry- Thanks :) its nice to see all the pictures though, if a pain to shovel the snow away

sandy- thanks, and glad its made you want to draw some candy

linda- thanks :) when we lived outside of town it was too far to walk but living in the city it was only maybe a few dozen blocks. Wouldn't want to walk a mile to school!

mary-yeah when it snows I don't go outside now, too cold

leslie- I should consider my signature when making up the composition, but because its only 2 letters I haven't. If its a graphite piece then I try to place the whole sig somewhere where its not going to stick out so much. I hate putting my signature on things actually, ruins the look of things I think.

yeah I laughed at hearing that London pretty much stopped dead. Wimps ;p

nuvonova- I have more pairs of boots then fancy shoes, so I'm screwed if we have to go anywhere nice lol

toni- thanks :) I'm use to it too, miss getting feet of it. an inch of snow is not a lot lol

blackcat- hmm did you ever try to set something on fire? that might have worked :p yep allsorts
