Scottish Word of the Week June 7, 2009

My foxgloves flowered and there are going to be a lot once they all finish flowering. I didn't think that they were going to flower this year but I'm really glad they did as it gives me more flowers to draw :) So far only 2 colours, this yellow pink cross and pink ones.

    At last... a flower I recognize, LOL. My foxgloves are blooming too, though now I wish I had one that neat yellow/pink color. Magnificent flowers!

    Jennifer- they are one of my favourites too :D

    Serena- I don't see why they wouldn't grow there, the heat might kill them if it was really hot but they still might grow.

    Judi-lol :D I'd love a blue one but not sure if they come in blue colours, hmm going to have to go look that up

    Kerry- they grow in a lot of places here, seem to spread like weeds. but its a pretty thing so I don't care if they spread :D

    I love the foxgloves, especially the yellow-pink ones. I have not grown them because they are poisonous and when the children were young that was one worry I did not need to add to my list. They are older now and have never tried to eat something that was not in the veggie or herb garden so maybe next year I will make space in the garden for them. Love the Scottish words-reminds of reading Robbie Burns in English Lit. classes(wondering what kind of English it was?).

    you could always put a small fence up around them if you are worried about someone eating them? but if they haven't eaten anything that wasn't out of the veggie garden it shouldn't be a problem :)

    I can't understand anything by Burns if its read by a Scotsman lol

This weeks colours for The Summer of Color are 2 purples and a yellow and this is what I did with them. Not my favorite colours so really racked my brain trying to think how I could use them and which bird to use. Decided to go with a juvenile Golden Eagle since I don't have any photos of a purple bird :p I think I prefer the black background, the yellow seems to stand out more against it. Which do you prefer?
