I could have sworn we sang different lyrics to that little rhyme and there were more lines to it but I must be going senile in my old age :p

and its another lovely rhyme dealing with death. The guys gets a concussion and never wakes up, thats fun to say :p

any guesses as to whats in the box? (no its not a bomb or imported cheese, or a big box of meat :p)

  1. Um, that's the version I remember, and all I remember. It's either collective senility or a shared memory. I recall thinking it was hilarious at the time.

  2. I remember "couldn't instead of wouldn't.... Hmmmmm
It's like Ring around the Rosy - a nursery rhyme about the plague.... and differs depending on your country of origin...

  3. i'm thinking art supplies?

kids have such fun singing nursery rhymes yet, some have some pretty dire foundations.

as michelle mentioned, the ring around the rosy was actually about the plaque and people dying.

then there's rockabye baby with the cradle and baby falling.

  4. I would have to guess art supplies aswell.

It's so weird all these nursery rhyms about death that we all sing when we were kids. Kinda freaky.

  5. i wish it was art supplies Ann :)

hmm maybe it was just extra made up lyrics Ingrid, or yeah insanity lol :)

Serena- nope, not art supplies. I wonder how many childhood rhymes had such dire foundations. I knew about ring around the rosy being about the plague but never stopped to think about the cradle one when I was younger :)

Michelle- nope :) hmm I could see a rhyme being made about swine flu soon so probably something kids will sing years from now too :)

  7. Ha - yes I'd been singing this one to my boys til I thought about it a bit more carefully! Hmmm ... let that be a warning not to bump our heads and go for a bit of a lie down.
