Book Review-The Republic of Thieves

Image
The Republic of Thieves (Gentleman Bastard #3) by Scott Lynch   Still an enjoyable read, but the first 2 were definitely better books. I think that was due to the fact there really isn't an interesting big heist like in the first 2. Its great reading about Locke's early days in the Gentleman Bastards and the world in the book is slowly growing bigger as the characters move around to new places. But I really didn't like Sabetha. Which is a problem since she plays such a big part in this book. The character is really just seen threw Locke's eyes, and he is infatuated with her, so his judgement is a little clouded, but she comes off as very childish and very manipulative,(even for a thief). You knew that eventually in the books, the romance between Locke and Sabetha, would show up and thats fine. The events of their relationship played a huge part in making Locke the person he is now, but I find the romance very once sided. It

Happy Dog :)

Image
Its not the dog :p but more messing around with gelli prints and oragami :)  Here's the dog     Extreme close up :p Went back to the doctor since pain killers are not working and my peak flow just keeps going down. Possible my chest walls are inflamed... I can't take anti-inflammatory meds, so if that is one problem, it will just take time to get better :/ With the amount of pain killers I am taking, I should either be sleeping like a log or really stoned..and I am neither lol

Just send me to the Glue Factory

So a month ago I had another CT scan done on my jaw to see if the arthritis had gotten worse or if the injections I had worked. I knew the right side was back to square one; the clicking and crunching tin foil sound when ever I talk, the locking up of the jaw and just general pain. Had an appointment at maxillofacial today to find out the results. Left side, thats OK. The right? Acute arthritis. Yay :p The only option is surgery to replace the jaw joint. Now, I don't want surgery, but don't really have an option as its just going to keep getting worse. Have to figure out what is up with my right lung before anything can happen. With everything else that is wrong with me, the von willebrands, MS, what ever is wrong with my lung, makes things a little more complicated. The surgery in itself isn't, its everything else that complicates things. The doctors keep saying I am really young to be  having jaw joint problems this bad. ah...sorry I guess :p

Run Away!!

Image
That eraser is 2.5 inches long, so thats a far sized spider o.0 No sure where he went....   Another ink sketch. Need to refine the sketch of a highland cow and then I can draw out the lineart for the paintings. I haven't really done anything since Thursday. Been dealing with a headache from hell, painful legs and just general fatigue, so have been doing a lot of reading. Better then nothing I guess. Now I have to play catch up even more with college work since I missed Friday :/

Test Print

Image
So I did have the writing right for printing, for some reason I thought I had done it wrong. I probably could have done more at hinting at the feathers on the back of the bird, but wanted the contrast between the dark bird and the white backgroud.

Yay! Didn't Cut Myself

Image
Finished carving the cormorant. Yeah the letters are backwards, I figure I just have to print the opposite way I would normally, and if that doesn't work just cut them away and carve another block to fill the sign up and it  would end up a 2 colour print.

Took a rubbing off of the lino I'm carving. Mostly to see if the feathers were looking like feathers, since I'm not carving every single feather. Not 100% happy with the neck, but not going to touch it until I take a print and then see what it looks like in ink.

Simple?

So this Happened....

Image
The lights have been flickering for the last few weeks, driving me nuts and finally the power went out completely so....   Time to tear up the pavement :p It was about 7 when it was fixed. Still a big hole on the path and since the steps are blocked off, I will have to catch the mail lady since she refuses to walk on the grass for some reason.

Hoot

Image
Angry looking owl :p I really have nothing else to write lol :p Dentist tomorrow, yay.....I probably need a tooth pulled but since its the very back molar, the only way that will happen is if they knock me out. So on top of dealing with tooth pain, I would have to deal with the after effects of the anaesthetic :/ Looking forward to that....

Painting?

Image
A painting idea for college. Well that depends on whether you think using coloured pencil is painting. I think its drawing using pencils that are coloured, but a lot of people consider it painting. People do call pastel works paintings, so I guess you could say the same with a work created with coloured pencils.

More cranes :) Off college for a week, so I will kill anyone who wakes me up before 9am :p

September Book Round Up

Image
Managed to read 5 books in the month of September, not bad, could be better. 1. Battle Royale byKoushun Takami, Yuji Oniki (Translator) - Review here 4/5 stars 2.MaddAddam (MaddAddam Trilogy #3) by Margaret Atwood- Review here 2/5 stars 3.Ready Player One by Ernest Cline- Review here 2/5 stars 4&5 Legend & Prodigy by Marie Lu --Ran out of time to do a proper review, but I would give them 3/5 stars   All of these were Ebooks, and while I like having the actual book in my hands, the lack of space and numb fingers make it so much easier to use my Nook.
