October Book Wrap-Up

Image
Managed to read 8 books in October, and shockingly they were all pretty OK  lol I haven't written reviews for The Stainless Steel rat books yet, want to finish the whole of the series before I do. The Chrysalids by John Wyndham My rating: 5 of 5 stars well, I would be screwed in this world having been born with 6 fingers :p The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells My rating: 4 of 5 stars My only complaint really is that it is too short :p enjoyed reading it, didn't find it a chore to get through, words flowed very well and it wasn't bogged down by unnecessary descriptions or pompous words :p The Stainless Steel Rat Goes to Hell by Harry Harrison My rating: 3 of 5 stars 2 more to go in the series.... The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett My rating: 4 of 5 stars Enjoyed it, the ending was a little slow but over all very entertaining and fast paced. The big reveal at the end felt like a bit of a let down tho, like the authors couldn't think of anyt...

This is one of those songs when I hear it, it gets stuck in my head for days :p

Painter 2015 Test/Graphics Tablet

Image
I needed to test out Painter 2015 and my new tablet, so of course spent 10 minutes on a quick little dragon. Love both and will def. being doing more digital work now that I have a bigger surface on the tablet to used. The other one was too small and I had difficulties figuring out the relation between my hand and the screen. And I figure if my wrist really starts to hurt again, using the tablet pen might not be so stressful on it :)

New Etching

Image
Yeah not a surprise here lol Back to the old stand-by of etching raptors, but I do enjoy etching these gorgeous birds and like to think I'm good at it :) And to continue to drive myself insane, there are a lot of feathers to create, since its a nice shot of the wings and back Some people might think its cheating using clear perspex to etch on and using a photo or drawing under the glass to etch but I take the photo so its still mine just less work not having to redraw the bird to get ready to etch from. And they take long enough to etch, I will do anything to save time on them.

Iceberg Ahead!

Image
Sort of Landscape/Seascape painting done in 3D I wish I could have made it bigger, 3 times this size at least but would have been a pain in the butt to move around and I'm going to have a hard enough time at this size trying to find a place to put it lol. I need to put a coat of matt varnish/medium on it to try to tone down the shine a little bit, it really sparkles when the light hits it, maybe a it too much sparkle.

Finished Rook

Image
Finally finished this today and pretty happy with the way it looks :) Really need to get that printing press built soon before I start drowning in printing plates :p

Throwback Thursday

Image
You know you are going Trick'0r'Treating in Canada when you need to wear a winter coat:p No date on this one, but I know thats the house will lived in when we lived in Hamilton, I could be 12, which would make Danielle 9 but I could be a bit older. I can't remember what we were supposed to be under the coats lol

Rook #6

Image
I really wanted to have this done this week, but since messing up my wrist I haven't been able to work on it as much as I wanted to. Haven't been able to do much art actually without my wrist really starting to hurt. So I work on art for about half an hour and then need to take a break and pop pain killers. Don't really wear the splint since it hurts more with it on and I can't do anything at all which drives me nuts :p Yes, whoa is me lol its just a big pain in the ass since its my right hand and I do have a lot of work to do for Uni and my job. As long as I don't try to lift anything heavy, should be fine....

Throwback Thursday

So apparently I really wanted that ice cream :p

Fall

Image
No, I didn't fall again but since its Fall and I haven't actually done any printing with leaves before I figured it was about time I did. Pretty happy with the way the prints turned out and want to try to see how flowers will look next :)

Rook #5

Image
So worked a bit on the Rook today but my wrist has been bugging me all day and was just too painful to work any more after a few minutes. After uni went to the  minor injuries unit and have apparently tendonitis in my wrist and need to wear a splint for 5 weeks. Drawing  will be fun :p yay....

Throwback Thursday

September Books Wrap UP

Image
A Stainless Steel Rat is Born by Harry Harrison My rating: 3 of 5 stars Quick and easy to read. I liked the main character Jim, the rest of the characters don't really matter. They are either not around long enough or are just a means to an end for Jim. You can def. tell its a Harry Harrison novel with the combo, of scifi, humour and satire. The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison My rating: 4 of 5 stars Going to write a review once I have read the whole series. This is the fourth one I've read, and there are 11 in total. Dracula by Bram Stoker My rating: 4 of 5 stars Most people know the story; lawyer goes to Transylvania to finish a house buy with a creepy old man, weird stuff happens to the lawyer, eventually leaves creepy old castle, creepy old man however is on his way to London. A Young women starts to get sick after making out in a graveyard with a stranger, another old science type guy is brought in, figures out what is wrong, but the women (spoi...

So Glad its Friday

Image
The wing is starting to take shape, not long until I can start shading the whole thing. And, yes really glad that it is Friday which means if the phone rings early in the morning, I will kill who ever it is :p I really am not a morning person, so while getting up at 7 might not be early to some people, it is way too early for me lol

Uni Work October 3,2014

Image
The only thing today that really turned out today, the rest are just big messes lol I blame a sore leg and shoulder from taking a flight the other day and landing hard. Nice purple bruises on my legs and arms :/ I seem determined to end up in a cast.

Small Rook Update

Image
I wanted to work more on the feathers on this, but my hand is starting to go numb :/ Hopefully get some more done on it tomorrow *crosses fingers*

Throwback Thrusday

Image
More pets :) The black Labs name was First, (first family dog :p) and The Great Dane was Harry if I am remembering correctly. He was as dumb as a rock and the size of a small boulder :p That wood stove was the only source of heating in this house, which was fine with me since my room was in this part of the house, freezing in the rest of the house tho lol
