Hmmm...

Well you win some and you lose some :p I will finish this, just to see if I can improve it any, but obviously I need to work on felines more. The only thing is that I don't have that many reference photos of felines to work from that I took and with etching I really prefer using my own photos or drawings for them. Will have to make sure when we go to the zoo to try to get some shots of the cats there so I can practice.

  1. Good Morning Jennifer,
We've had a cat for much of our married life, and I think this etching is wonderful. Reminds me of one of our cats as a kitten. You've done a fine job of getting the kitten's personality and that's not easy.
    Well Done!
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  2. Jennifer,
I forgot to mention--the kitten I'm remembering was also a calico. She was a tiny kitten, deciding to follow us one day as we were walking down a lane in Cerreto, Italy. We stopped by the farmhouse she belonged in and inquired if she might be available. Cats, in the Tuscan countryside where we lived, were treated more like mousers than pets.
The wife told us we could have her and we loved that beautiful cat for nine years.
When we brought her back to the U.S., she was pregnant, and not far from her delivery date. Customs officials took a look at her in the cat carrier and suspiciously asked if there was anything else in it. We told them, "No, but you're welcome to take her out and inspect it." We added that they might want to put on a pair of tough leather gloves first. That made them reconsider, and they decided to leave her alone. Of course, her papers were in order, too. :))
So, thanks to your wonderful etching, some great memories came back.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

    1. thank you for the very nice comment and I am glad the etching brought back some good memories :) thank you for sharing your story. thats what I really like about art, it has the power to make people remember good things, (and ok bad memories too).

I grew up with a big tabby tom cat, who loved jumping out at people from under the couch, around corners :p I like cats, Sky doesn't, and John is allergic so no cat for me. Thats ok there are enough running around outside here to see :p
