365 Sketches #69

Image
Searched high and low for something to draw and since it is now warm enough out to hang clothes up to dry outside, these were brought back out. And hurt just as much as stepping on a Lego if you step on one in bare feet lol

Throwback Thursday

Image
Drawing from 1996, I had just turned 15 according to the date. #8 on the list we were given to draw was a tool or complex household object. If the list hadn't of said "complex" household object, I'm sure people would have just drawn a bunch of butter knives lol

365 Sketches #68

Image
A dream catcher pendant, which I don't wear since the little hoop for a necklace broke off. I actually have a lot of little pendants I don't wear or are broken but can't bring myself to throw away.

365 Sketches #67

Not much I could eat at hospital. Not because I am too picky, because so many things can make me ill :/ This is oddly because of the latex allergy. There is actually a lot of food to try to avoid but not everything on the foods that could be a problem list is a problem, but...a lot of it is and since the allergy is getting worse its not worth the risk.

3D Dragon

Image
I had way too much fun making this dragon head. I used Sculptris so make this since I haven't yet tried to use ZBrush , which you can do a lot more with apparently. Just added basic colour for th moment, but will be "painting" it when time allows. A top view.  Very symmetrical looking, but you an turn that feature off if you don't want to use it. Face on view, looks like he has floppy ears lol

365 Sketches #66

Image
The call button from the second ward I was in. I don't even know if it still worked, very old school lol

Music Monday

Image
I actually prefer this cover over the original :)

365 Sketches #65

Image
At least when I was moved to a different ward in the hospital, I was next to the window and had a view of the Tay river . And occasionally a helicopter to break up the boredom.

Hospital Dragons!

Image
When I'm bored I draw a lot of dragons, this isn't even half of them lol Started to use a new pen in the above one and in the one below. I actually prefer it over the Pitt pen I had been using and they are cheaper to buy too.

365 Sketches #64

Image
The end of my bed in hospital. You find things to draw anywhere in everywhere when you are stuck in one ward all day lol I should have drawn my feet in the sketch but they honestly wouldn't stop twitching so had to sit on them so I could sketch without the sketchbook shaking all over.

Weekly Book Wrap

Image
Good thing about being stuck in hospital, you do have time to read lol Kill Your Friends by John Niven My rating: 3 of 5 stars Very very dark humor with characters we were not meant to like at all, and an ending that would annoy people, including me :p but I did enjoy the dark humor The Mammoth Book of Apocalyptic SF by Mike Ashley My rating: 2 of 5 stars Not a bad collection of stories, but the second half of the collection I think lets it all down. Too long winded and there were a few that were downright boring, but the beginning of the shorts stories started out well. The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett My rating: 3 of 5 stars re-read since I needed something light to read at the hospital. still enjoyed it, but the second time around I felt like it dragged on a bit and tried to be funny and failed at times. But I would still recommend it to people to read if they haven't 2016 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read...

So I've been in the hospital since Monday afternoon for what they thought might have been my appendix playing up, but after a bunch of test, the conclusion is its probably the MS causing the pain. Which I was starting to think Wednesdzy night anyway since the pain killers they were giving me were doing nothing at all. So while I am still in pain and now having problems walking or stanind up straight lol, I am home. I was starting to go stir crazy so glad I brought my sketchbook. Drew things that were around and dragons. Lots of dragons, so they will def. be showing up here. But on the bright side, at least I know my kidneys are good and healthy :p oh and this is the call button in the first ward I was in.

365 Sketches #62

Image
A little blue stoned pendant. I need to get another chain to wear this, since the last one broke. I am always breaking chains, they either get stuck in my hair or stuck on my lanyard for uni and then snap when I pull them loose.

365 Sketches #61

Image
One of Sky's baby teeth. I didn't even know we had some of these but I was going through a jewelry box and they were at the bottom of it. You always forget how sharp they are unless you step on one.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
A few short stories this week, since I have been to sore to read and now to ill to really read as well. I swear, if there is a bug going around, I will def. get it :p A Cup of Salt Tears by Isabel Yap My rating: 2 of 5 stars I found this pretty boring, but it was well written. Maybe short stories are just not my thing? The Mussel Eater by Octavia Cade My rating: 3 of 5 stars Predictable ending but I thought the writing flowed really well, almost lyrical. Interesting intro in a bit of mythology I didn't know about before. 2016 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 20 books toward her goal of 100 books. hide 20 of 100 (20%) view books

Totem Pole Animals

Image
3D models for uni that I want to get 3D printed but not sure if I am going to be able to. Will find out on Monday. There are 6 in total, and once I have them all together I will post a screen shot of them here. Not supposed to be realistic at all, very stylized to go with the artist I did research on for the project.

365 Sketches #60

Image
An old medic alert bracelet from Canada. I probably should have one for here but most of them I think are pretty ugly and the ones that are not, are up there in price. And its not for the MS I would need one, its for the latex allergy I've developed in the last few years. I can't use almost every type of adhesive without breaking out in hives.Makes it interesting when I cut myself :p

Throwback Thursday

Image
I went through a really big marker phase when I was 15. Thats the only reason I can think of for this.

365 Sketches #59

Image
A door handle, probably original to the house, so circa 1970's. None of the door handles match in this house, they've been changed over the years, all except this one. Well until we moved in and John changed it since it really hurt when you knocked your elbow on it :p

New Zealand Waterfall

Image
For Sale Another pastel of New Zealand. A waterfall in Napier, was right down from the hostel at the time.

365 Sketches #58

Image
Small bottle of beach sand. One of those touristy things you have but don't really do anything with.

365 Sketches #57

Image
Sky's newest toy, a stuffed hippo. Well, we think its a hippo, could be a cow I guess :p

365 Sketches #56

Not something you see very often these days unless you are a hipster.

365 Sketches #55

Image
A candle snuffer shaped like a flower bell. I actually bought this in Canada, probably 15 years ago. It had a base, but that is long gone :p

Weekly book Wrap Up

Image
Does the book count for my goal if its most images?? :p Information is Beautiful by David McCandless My rating: 4 of 5 stars Nice book full of interesting and different way to show statistics/info. A few of the pages made me laugh with their stats and they way they were laid out on the page:D The Last Camel Died at Noon by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 4 of 5 stars Nice change of pace to the story due to setting the story in a different place. Nice amount of intrigue and action to the story and the addition of new interesting characters helped this volume not become as repetitive as the last few have started to be. Even tho I have a lot of other books already started, I started another one: Kill Your Friends by John Niven   2016 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 18 books toward her goal of 100 books. hide 18 of 100 (18%) view books

Another New Zeland Pastel Painting

Image
For Sale I really like creating these small pastel paintings. They are a good was to relax after a stressful week. I have a lot of photos that I can use from NZ, so expect more pastel landscapes in the future.

365 Sketches #54

Image
A butterfly pendant that I should probably wear but I'm always afraid the clasp will break and it will fly away.

365 Sketches #53

Image
A memory key, or memory stick or jump drive, flash drive, USB key or pen drive even. What ever you want to call it :p

Throwback Thursday

Image
Old art at 15 plus old math homework :p I do remember we had to draw a made up piece of jewelry and I was going through an Ancient Egyptian phase at the time. But can you really call it a phase if it never stopped?

365 Sketches #52

Image
A badly drawn binder clip lol Ingrid asked me if I was going to put all of these sketches in a book, not sure who would buy one, but I think that is a great idea, even if its just for me to look back on and I could use the design "stuff" I have learned so far to put it together. So I might actually put a small book together when done, if I manage all 365 sketches.

365 Sketches #51

Image
A small dino picture frame. I twisted my neck on Sunday and its not any better, my back actually hurts now too. So at the moment all I can do is these quick little sketches, even typing hurts for some odd reason. I have to keep trying to move my neck or its going to seize up completely, but any sudden movements have me turning the air blue.

365 Sketches #50

Image
315 sketches left to go. Mobile phones have changed so much in a relatively short time. From being these huge phones, as heavy and the same size as a brick, to tiny phones and now right back to the huge phones that are bigger than most people's hands.

365 Sketches #49

Part of my wedding tiara, surprisingly is not that bent out of shape for being squished into a suitcase surrounded by clothes.  Bought at a costume place in Port Dover , because my sister insisted I need a tiara when getting married.

Raven

Image
One of the projects we are doing is designing packaging based on a 20th century artist or art movement. I decided to research Bill Reid , which means my packaging design is going to be heavily Haida art based. I need to vectorize this image and draw a Killer Whale as well and a few more images that would appeal to kids but done in the same style, just not as detailed. And its all due the 28th, plus 2 other project due around the same time, plus an essay due the 23. Not panicking yet, I've started on the essay at least lol. But I still don't want to think too much about the essay....

365 Sketches #48

Image
The collie on my key chain. Its not huge but its big enough it doesn't get lost in my bag.
