Weekly Book Wrap Up

Still sick but managed to read a few books since I've just been sitting in the backyard in the sun lol

IlluminaeIlluminae by Amie Kaufman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was actually shocked I liked this book as much as I did since I have given up on ever reading a YA book again as they were all sounding the same. Of course there is a young love story but the layout of the book was what sold me on the story. Having the story told through reports, and IM worked well in this case, even though I can see that being a big NO for a lot of people, it worked well here, helped a lot in creating the ship settings in my head and the sense of isolation space travel can have.

Some of the pages in the book were wonderfully designed, I really liked how the story pages taking place outside of the ship were laid out.

The Ape Who Guards the Balance (Amelia Peabody, #10)The Ape Who Guards the Balance by Elizabeth Peters
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Too predictable, too much love sick pining, too long. Its not a horrible book, just not the best in the series so far.

Might give this series a break for a bit, getting burnt out with the chracters I think. Still an enjoyable series, just very repetitive at this stage.
