New Zealand Waterfall

Image
For Sale Another pastel of New Zealand. A waterfall in Napier, was right down from the hostel at the time.

Another New Zeland Pastel Painting

Image
For Sale I really like creating these small pastel paintings. They are a good was to relax after a stressful week. I have a lot of photos that I can use from NZ, so expect more pastel landscapes in the future.

Whanaura Bay

Image
For Sale A pastel landscape of Whanaura Bay in New Zealand. Very green area with very blue water. Done on fisher 400 paper, which I love, but have some new paper to try now. So expect some more pastel works from me. Can use coloured pencils on the new paper too, so going to try that out one day.

Throwback Thursday

Image
John and I in 2004, after knowing each other about 3 weeks :p This was at The Moeraki boulders , which are really neat to see. Water was a little cold still in October tho so I didn't go for a swim. I lived in that yellow hoodie almost the whole time I was in NZ, it was comfy :p

Throwback Thursdsay

Image
This was 11 years ago when we were both in New Zealand. This was a stretch of road between Gisbourne and Napier and the area was gorgeous. Slightly scary when half the road was missing tho lol

A Storm is Coming

Image
Finished this last night, just need to find a frame for it now. I want to find one like I used here, but it all depends on price, the joys of framing :/ At least it isn't huge and wont cost a fortune to frame. I think I have found a style that I like when painting. Its not really realistic, but not really that abstract. It works for me tho, I think, well at least I am not saying that I hate painting any more

Robin Hood Bay

Image
Another drawing for the Virtual Paintout . Quick ink drawing of Robin Hood Bay, love the name :) I love my ink pens, should probably use them more as I am very quick with them and don't focus so much on detail. I've been wanting to start doing ACEOs again, so started with something simple :p A Peacock feather on black paper. For Sale Drenched again due to these clouds... but at least there was a pretty rainbow after all the friggin rain :p

Virtual Paintout

Image
11x8.25 inches Watercolour pencils on Stonehenge I have been following the virtual paintout blog for awhile now. Its really nice seeing all the artwork that people produce and looking on streets I would have never thought to look at in the first place. Until now I haven't really wanted to contribute, but this months country is New Zealand, and I know I say it a lot, but I love the place and want to go back so bad (ok, could deal without the earthquakes tho). I find landscapes hard to draw, so I tend to avoid them. Figured it was about time I started drawing more landscapes, so might as well use scenes from a land I fell in love with. I am pretty sure that my style when drawing landscapes will be this loose, makes them easier to draw and I can focus on the colours of the land more than anything else. Actually what I found the hardest, was picking one scene from the googlecar to draw. I honestly think that a photo or a drawing can not do the place justice.

snug as a bug in a rug

snug as a bug in a rug Originally uploaded by fuzzydragons hmmm I have always wondered where that phrase came from o.0 A few more pink petals coloured in and to try to keep my sanity, a quick sketch of the moeraki boulders in New Zealand. Sadly they are not mutlicoloured like this :(, which would be really cool :p They are still really neat to see tho. I really like working in ink, should really sketch more often with my pens :)

I want to go back so bad! One day I will, hopefully before I'm old and grey...oops have the grey hair already :p Pictures really do not do the place justice. 1. Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand , 2. Moeraki Boulders, Koekohe Beach, New Zealand :: HDR , 3. Pohutu Geyser eruption at Te Puia, New Zealand. , 4. pararaha bay

Eye Spy ...

Image
beauty :) I fell in love with New Zealand, I thought it was a gorgeous place and most of the people I met where really nice. There was that one car that flipped us off, even when they were in the wrong but other then that no problem :p This was a really great place to visit. The beach covered with these boulders is a wonderful site :) And this bay was a gorgeous place to stay but nothing there besides the bay which is fine but when you didn't really bring any food you can't stay that long. I think we ate crackers and cheese and drank lots of tea because it was free :p I want to go back so bad I am probably sounding like a broken record lol one day *crosses fingers* This weeks theme chosen by Stacey . For more eyespy head here

New Zealand Post #7

Image
So we left the boulders and headed towards Dunedin. We wish we had of had more time to spend on the South Island as both of us liked the area more than we liked the North Island, but saw as much as we could with the week and half that I had left before I had to fly back to Canada. We spent a few days in Dunedin, walking around more and taking a few drives on the coast. Hmmm taken on the drive to Dunedin. I really hope it refers to a bird or a rock :p I wonder how many people stop and take pictures of the sign lol We ate at this really nice restaurant called Brimstone with flame torches on the wall. I ordered what I thought was a side dish and wasn't going to be that big but when the bowl of wedges showed up the bowl was bigger than my head and full of wedges. Good value for money but I couldn't eat all of it so had it put in a box for me to take away. Mr.Fuzzy ordered a medium meat pizza (which again was massive) and ate all but 2 slices. 8 pieces of pizza. He was deter...

New Zealand Part 6

Image
Timaru . Well the view from our room window. The sky was so blue and the weather was wonderful. I fell again (nope wasn't drunk this time either). Tripped in a pothole at the back of the hostel and put a hole in the new sarong I had bought. I still have it, but have to be careful how I tie it or it has a habit of slipping and I don't want to scare people if it slips :p The front of the hostel. Was very clean and the staff were nice :) And we were going to go straight to Dunedin but stopped off to see these really cool boulders . (yes, thats my pale leg :p and my favourite sarong [ying yang dragons, lots of bright colours]) Little plaque illustrating how the boulders are formed. I am really glad we stopped to see this stretch of land. If I had of been on a bus I probably would have missed it (even though there was a big-green-fuck-truck parked in the parking lot, but you wouldn't catch me on one of those even if I was dead) Pretty hard to do anyway without sliding off of the...

New Zealand Part 3

Image
*This post was supposed to go after part 2 part of course, and I thought that I had published this but if I did, it has dissapeared so here it is.* So next after we left Rotorua we travelled to Whakatane where I again managed to fall and drop things (and I hadn't been drinking lol). Its also where Mr.Fuzzy bought 2 litres of ice cream because it was cheaper than buying a small tub. And he did manage to eat a lot of it, but had to leave it at the hostel with a note saying "eat me" in the fridge. We really didn't do much there besides walk around and look at everything. We could have went out to White Island , but the weather wasn't being the best and we didn't want to wait around until a tour group was going to go out. The forecast wasn't good so we decided to move on within a day. [and the air was toxic..you need to wear a gas mask >> Mr Fuzzy] Next we went to Whanarua Bay because we needed to stop and rest after driving. Now just a warning to anyo...
