365 Sketches #43

Image
Part of a set of dominoes from a little game box with other simple board games in it. Would draw more from the set, but checkers are not exactly hard to draw :p

365 Sketches #42

Image
A plastic Aardvark, I have two actually. They were for an online project, but I never did anything with them. Every time I see them, I keep thinking I should modify them somehow. Turn one into a Highland cow mash up and the other into a Beaver mash up.

365 Sketches #41

Image
It might not seem like it with all the problems I have been having with my teeth. But I do brush them lol I have to use a kids size toothbrush since my jaw wont open completely and I have a small mouth. Dental X-rays are a pain since he has to use the tiny tools for that, and even then they sometimes don't fit right.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
I need to read faster to reach y goal :p The Deeds of the Disturber by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 3 of 5 stars Suffers a bit from the location change and Ramses is really starting to get on my nerves with his constant better than everyone attitude, which is really annoying even for a 10 years old :p There are 19 books in the series, so averaging one a week is OK since we have a bit of a heavy load at Uni at the moment. Just need to finish the other 3 books I am reading at the moment and I will be caught up. 2016 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 16 books toward her goal of 100 books. hide 16 of 100 (16%) view books

Half Done

Image
Half done the rock that is. And to show the progress, have a gif Really can't wait until I start on the seals lol

365 Sketches #40

Image
A pair of pointy tweezers. Should have used coloured pens for this sketch since they are shiny and purple  :p Teeth update: Keep taking the antibiotics I am already on, take more pain killers, see him on Thursday to get the filling that fell out fixed, unless something else happens, (which I really hope doesn't).

365 Sketches #39

Image
A bottle of heat protection spray for when I straighten your hair, which I don't do that often since it takes forever to do but I should since it looks better. And my hair is already fried from bleaching it, so why not try to make it worse? :p I think the area where the tooth was pulled is either infected, or has a dry socket. It hurts, the side of my face is starting to swell and as much as we can see, it does look like the pics of a dry socket :/ I should change the title of this blog , maybe Dentures at 35? I am just not having any luck with my teeth this year. I wouldn't have a problem if the M.S. was playing up, you sucks it up, deal with it and move on. My teeth are just driving me insane with one problem after another.

365 Sketches #38

I thought it was apt that todays sketch is a tube of toothpaste since I had a dentist appointment today. Of course, we get in the car, John turns the key and then nothing...genius lol. Quick battery change (very quick, haven't see him move that fast in awhile), and then to the dentist. He managed to get the tooth out, took longer for the anesthetic to kick in then for him to pull the tooth. Was very quick, and broke in half when he took it out. I have really long roots but he managed to get those out too. I say it all the time, but I do finally have a very good dentist and I will cry if he retires or moves away. I will follow him lol, well unless its down south. Thats a bit far :p And back on next Thursday to fix the tooth he was originally supposed to fix before the removed one got infected. Brush your teeth people! and no candy :p (my downfall)

Wordless Wednesday

And then there Was Two

Image
I realized that as I was working on the rock that I cannot work on some parts of it without having the other seal outlined to help where some of the rock lines and shading go. Needed to lightly outline the other seal and the lines can be scratchy, its not perfect. I just needed a rough idea of where he was laying down.

365 Sketches #37

Image
Very bristly nail brush. Small thing but hurts when it falls on your foot lol

365 Skethes #36

Image
Nail clippers were oddly not the easiest thing to draw. So, another infected tooth and a round of pretty strong antibiotics to go with it. Dentist might try to pull the damn thing on Wednesday, but not sure how he is going to, but wants to have a go since it has to be yanked asap. I maybe should have drawn a dental tool but I don't have any lol

365 Sketches #35

Image
A small little shell covered with barnacles I think?? Its actually a bit sharp if you grab it the wrong way.

365 Sketches #34

Image
A piece of driftwood. Sometimes the beaches are full of driftwood, but of course the days I go to look for some for a project, there is none to be found.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
One more book finished, but so busy with uni, not much time for reading :/ Will probably have to play catch up during the summer to make my 100 book goal for the year. Or start reading a lot of children's books :p Lion in the Valley by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 3 of 5 stars Yet again, entertaining read with a few very funny, laugh out loud moments and the "big" reveal of a supporting character in the series. Still reading: In Progress: See Inside a Lettering Artist's Sketchbook and Process, from Pencil to Vector by Jessica Hische (Illustrations) , Louise Fili

Fall Leaves

Image
This is very, very loose work for me, and very abstract for me. Even though when using pastels I don't have a lot of detail in my pastel work, I think this is possibly a bit too loose lol Love the colours though and having the colours be the main focus was what I was going for.

365 Sketches #33

Image
Some more shells. These ones look like small huts, pretty boring actually until you turn them upside down. Then you see coloured rings showing their growth patterns.

365 Sketches #32

Image
A quick sketch of some beach pebbles. After drawing these, I wish I had of used coloured ink pens instead of just black pen. Might start doing that in the future for some of the sketches.

We're back :)

Image
So after a brief outage when Google's automated system decided for some unknown reason to decide this blog violated its TOS (amongst many others) We are back. However this has prompted a decision to relocate the blog to another platform. Info will be posted here or on www.fuzzydragons.com or www.fuzzydragons.co.uk So have a photo of Sky when she was a pup...almost 6 years ago O.o

365 Sketches #31

Image
This is a shell, not an ear lol This is the same type of shell as yesterday , but the ends have been broken off so its now very odd looking.

Another shell, this one looking more shell like than the last :p

OK, I know what it looks like, but its a little shell, I swear lol Get your heads out of the gutter :p

Etching Update

Image
This rock is taking forever, so many little nooks and crannies. Almost half done with the rock thankfully. I think it looks pretty good, will need a bit of shading to round it out a bit more, and it also needs a water reflection so its not floating in the air lol

365 Sketches #28

Image
One of my tiny pen nibs. Another simple object that we use to create art, but often don't draw itself.

365 Sketches #27

Image
Hardly anyone wears a watch these days, most people just use their phones to check the time. I have 3 watches, but hardly wear them, since they can get in the way of making art. I tend to move my arms a lot when drawing and don't want to gouge any work by accident. My tooth got a temporary filling in it, but it has to go, its just crumbled when it broke. Putting in the temporary filling was hard enough for the dentist to do, so pretty sure the only way its going to get yanked, is if they knock me out so they can move my jaw enough to get at it. That will be fun :p

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
Oh no! Didn't finish any books this week, but I blame that on having vertigo. Kind of hard to read when things are spinning :p Hopefully get some books finished next week or my goal is going to start to be a little harder to meet. Currently trying to read: Lion in the Valley (Amelia Peabody #4) by Elizabeth Peters   Only 14 pages left to read, just couldn't manage to finish it in a week. In Progress: See Inside a Lettering Artist's Sketchbook and Process, from Pencil to Vector by Jessica Hische (Illustrations) , Louise Fili    And all other books are going to be put aside so I can read this one. Really nice looking and informative book. 2016 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 14 books toward her goal of 100 books. hide 14 of 100 (14%) view books

Lake Erie Pastel

Image
For Sale New paper for me, velour paper. I like it, but had to figure out a way to fix the pastel to the paper without any of the fixative leaving spray marks. John to the rescue for thinking of the spray varnish I have. Worked well and didn't change the colours that much, as fixative can or leave any spray marks on the paper. This is a scene at Lake Erie before it started to rain. Can get pretty windy down by the pier, but the view is really nice.

365 Skeches #26

Image
Little Halloween tea light holder, not sure if I have sketched this before but it never hurts to draw something again. So, broke another tooth tonight. Bit of a pain in the butt since I am not sure what can be done with it since it is a back molar and I still can't open my jaw properly from the TMJ surgery. Time will tell what happens I guess, probably pull it.

365 Sketches #25

Oddly shaped inhaler, 340 more sketches go lol

Throwback Thursday

Image
From 2005 on dad's front yard in Canada. Ignore the sandals :p

365 Sketches #23

This drawing is actually bigger than the actual little glass ornament lol

Whanaura Bay

Image
For Sale A pastel landscape of Whanaura Bay in New Zealand. Very green area with very blue water. Done on fisher 400 paper, which I love, but have some new paper to try now. So expect some more pastel works from me. Can use coloured pencils on the new paper too, so going to try that out one day.

365 Sketches #22

Image
I have a lot of feathers laying around, mostly Peacock ones, but a lot of smaller ones and no idea what the big black ones are. Turkey feathers? Crow? Would love some from a pheasant, but I don't hunt and all the ones you see on the side of the road :( are generally not good to use. They honestly have to be one of the daftest birds out there. um, pretty sure playing chicken with a car is a bad idea, (and no we haven't hit any, the air horns scare most things off the road :p)

Music Monday

365 Sketches #21

Image
A MCB that was laying around. Since John was an electrician, there are electrical parts all over the house. Its handy if something goes wrong lol or if I need lights for a project, he can wire them up :)

365 Sketches #20

Image
Blame the really sketchy/wonky look on the vertigo lol Its supposed to be a plug, 3 pins here, so a converter is needed when coming here from even Canada.

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
Another week, another book. I blame being sick and having vertigo from an ear infection. Hard to read when things are spinning around :p The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 3 of 5 stars Another predictable read, but a story like this, I tend to read because of the characters. I'm not looking for a mind altering book, just something to enjoy. And I did. Its the interactions of the main characters and the setting that make me continue reading, not the mystery. Which in this one especially, isn't hard at all to figure out. Still reading: Confessions of a Sociopath: A Life Spent Hiding in Plain Sight by M.E. Thomas A few more pages in. I think because this is a physical books its taking me forever to read. Its so much easier to pull out my phone which I always have on me, and read an ebook. Started to read: Lion in the Valley (Amelia Peabody #4) by Elizabeth Peters Probably going to be another quick summer type re...

Flower Friday

Image
Its been raining all day and I still feel like crap, so need some colour today. John would have taken these because even with a nice camera and lens, my hands are way too shaky without a tripod to get detailed shots like this.
