Fuzzydragons

A fuzzy little dragon stuffed animals that I made a few years ago, but is now used as a dog toy lol I should put a squeaker in it and then she will never leave it alone. I think there were lollipops in this but now it holds pens. You can never have too many containers with pens in them, you never know when you will need one. linking up to Sunday Sketches

The prompt for Illustration Friday this week is viking, so I decided i would make a little long boat in illustrator. This is the very quick sketch and a screen grab below of the very rough vector art. It is very cartoony but I like that look. I don't want to spend days on this, too much other stuff to try to get finished before Uni starts back up, but the prompts help with getting ideas.

A few nice days (well, nice for here) to sit out and read, so finished two books I have been meaning to finish for awhile. And I know I said I wasn't going to read anymore Stephen King again because I was starting to find his writing boring and repetitive, but I like his short stories. I still stand by saying he can't write an ending to save his life in his novels, but he can generally end his short stories where the ending makes sense. The House with the Green Shutters by George Douglas Brown My rating: 3 of 5 stars Very depressing book ending but very true to small town life and how people interact with each other. Sadly the petty vindictiveness and curtain twitching still happens today in small towns. Started on the left seal today before I had to stop because my right hand started to go numb. The numbness in my right hand is def. the MS and with a bit of a break goes away. The numbness in my left hand doesn't act the same. It is very hard to explain. When the MS acts up I have no spatial awareness with the effected limb/digits, its like it has fallen asleep and its not connected to my body anymore. With my left hand, I have spatial awareness and it feels like I am getting stabbed by hundreds of those little plastic cocktail knives for drinks. It gets worse if I use it, which I always do because I forget and the pain is always there even with the few meds I can take. I'm not going to say its not the MS causing the problem, it very well might be. But it just doesn't feel like its the MS and I kind of feel like people (Drs/Physio) are using the MS as an excuse because I am not fitting into the little bubble of symptoms for the problem. Back to working on the seal etching now that my right shoulder is feeling better and after months of working on this I really should have this done. The texture on the rock is done, just needs more shading which I am not going to do until the seals are almost done. The seals shouldn't take months lol but of course now that I have written that, it will. A close up of the etching under the right seal. Looks a little confusing, doesn't really register as rock this close up. I don't think  have drawn this snowman for my 365 challenge, but even if I have,practice drawing the same things is good. I need to buy the dog more toys so I can draw them.

I miss my snake. This isn't mine, same kind, but this was at an animal place in Niagara Falls. The guy there looked pretty bored and let me hold some of the reptiles for probably longer than normal. I find it so odd people are scared of snakes. I can understand why in some cases, but honestly it really is just about educating people about snakes. Once you know which ones to def. avoid, ones like this one don't come across as scary. And I don't know how many times I have said to people they are not slimy. They feel like warm leather, not slimy at all. Well sea snakes might feel slimy since they might be a little wet, but you don't generally pick up sea snakes lol (venomous, try to avoid, but generally are not aggressive)

I blame how bad these sketches are on hand pain. Even tho its my left hand that is in pain and I am right handed, its kind of distracting and well, painful lol So here is a butterfly barrette and my hair brush, that looks very very pointy lol And hopefully I get to work on the Barn Owl to try to get finished by this weekend.Too much stuff to do/learn and not enough time.

This doesn't look like I have done a lot of work since the last update, but trust me I have. Lots and lots of brown layers and the start of a pink nose. Digital is so much faster lol

First layer of colour on the Barn Owl. Very rough and loose, just to get the basic tone down. Very subtle colour blending, even in a close up its kind of hard to see. And what it looks like right now, might get more done if I don't go to bed lol Very odd hand, I need to practice more. But I past the half way mark in my challenge and didn't notice and I a pretty shocked I have managed to get this far with it.

Back to typing with one hand again because my left is out of commission for awhile. I ended up going to the out of hours GP last night I was in so much pain, and after 2 GPs saw me they figured out I don't have just carpal tunnel I also have Cubital tunnel syndrome . yay...Do you know how hard it is trying not to bend your wrist and elbow?lol So,probably not going to be able to do a lot of art unless its digital until the problems are fixed. Which is OK since I need the practice with a lot of different programs.

Yay almost caught up with my reading list but not sure what to finish next. A Smile in the Mind by Beryl McAlhone The main body text can be a little dry but the image examples make up for that slightly. Starting to age a bit, but worth a read to see the different ways witty and clever design can be used. A River in the Sky by Elizabeth Peters My rating: 4 of 5 stars short quick enjoyable read that I think enjoyed more because of the change of location to another ancient site. 10 Lost Pulp Sci-Fi Masterpieces by F.L. Wallace My rating: 3 of 5 stars Some of the stories are a little weak but over all they were worth a read. Well written for the genre and not too cheesy and a few interesting scenarios to contemplate.
