Sketchy

Image
Drew a 15 sketch of a dragon in a new tiny sketch book. Says Pink Pig Sketchbooks on the back lol Sketched the rough outline quickly. I find the best way to sketch dragons for me is to just put random lines down in the rough shape of a dragon. Using thicker pens to fill in the details. And finished. I went back to using the tiny pen to fill in some of the shading. The pens are Uni  Pin Fine Line and are waterproof and fade proof. The ink does rub of on my hand when I sketch tho so the side of my hand is all black. Once it drys it seems to stay on the paper tho.

Finished Peacock

Image
This didn't take as long as I thought it would to dry, was dry last night. I had to darken the scan a bit since scanning the image made the peacock very light. I will use more marker next time tho, just to experiment more with the paper. I really like the results of the markers on the Yupo paper. These were water soluble markers tho, probably would work with non-soluble ones but am going to try anyway to see what happens.

TomBow Markers on Yupo paper. This is the first time I've actually used markers on this paper and they work really well. I think so at least. With not a lot of pigment on the paper, you get pretty good colour coverage when you add water. I need to try some different markers to see how they react on the paper.

Sea Dragon #2

Image
Not sure if this is going to be the green I use, but its easy enough to change. Once I finish the basic colours, then on to the shading. I haven't made a weekly book wrap up for 2 weeks since I haven't finished any books and all because I started a 722 page tome, and while I kind of want to just stop reading it, I only have 300 pages or so left and things are finally starting to happen, so don't want to give up now that it has finally started to get interesting lol Def. going to pick a shorter book next time.

Sea Dragon #1

Image
Starting to add the vector lines to part of my dragon background to be used on my website. I am adding the basic lines and then will add the flat colors. I was thinking of some kind of green colour, but that might be a little cliché. Green dragons are a dime a dozen. Some of these lines look so confusing without any colour.

Hop Hop

Image
Finished the cute blue bunny. Kept the colours very simple, since I just liked how the simple colours and shading looked. Simple can sometimes be the better option, saying that, I do have a tendency to use too much colour sometimes lol

Finished!

Image
Last sketch, and its a very quick self portrait that doesn't actually look a lot like me lol I think maybe if I had 10 minutes it would look more like me, but I'm sticking to the 5 minute rule for sketching. I probably should do a portrait a week, just for the practice but I am still debating if I am going to have time.

Vials

Image
Julie asked what colour the vial of pigment I drew the other day was, they are all kinds of colours, some of them shiny. Its an odd selection of colours if they are some kind of paint. Where the Easter Bunny is at the moment. Thought I would get it finished but had a bunch of uni work to get done before I could work on it. Still need to come up with some story ideas but most of the leg work is finished so now onto the fun stuff.

Sketches #363 & #364

Image
Didn't sketch yesterday, MS causing nerve problems plus walking problems. Always fun when your leg gives out without any warning lol but thankfully I have been able to catch myself before I fall right over. Sketch #363 is a bottle of Golden Syrup , and yes there is a smiling spoon on the bottle. Sketch #364 is a wafer biscuit (?) with marshmallow in the middle. One more sketch to go and I already know what I am going to sketch so don't have to go searching around for something.

Sunday Sketches

A vial of pigment powder. I actually don't know what it is lol It's probably a type of paint, but until I figure out how to tell what type, I don't really want to mess around with it. And a pantograph for #362, which I managed to almost break my glasses with today. oops but they seem OK. Oh yeah, got stuck in one of the elevators at uni. Was only for a minute or so, but when you are claustrophobic, that seems like a long time. And of course I didn't hae my mobile on me at the time, and no one was answering the call button. Don't think I will be using those elevators for a while lol Three left to sketch :D

Bunny x2

Image
Two versions of the cute bunny. I think the style in the top image is more "me" at the moment with the odd shapes lol The gradient version just might be a little bit too busy. I am going to finish both and then decide on which one I like better. Which do you prefer? Sketch #360, my electric toothbrush. Probably helps clean my teeth, still can't open my jaw enough to brush the back teeth properly but at least I can brush the rest of my teeth. 5 sketch to go....

Whats in a Name?

Image
I need to design a new monogram to use on my site and on business cards. These are very. very rough sketches and I will probably go with number nine since the site is going to have a sea monster theme, and number nine has and old school sailor font look to it. I might keep it simple like here or try to add some more design elements to it to try to make it stand out.

Sketches #358 & #359

Image
Six left to draw yay!! #358, a badly sketched toilet lol and the #359 the bathroom sink. Probably shouldn't have sat on the floor to sketch these, the angles might not be so wrong if I had of just sat on a chair.

Tail Spikes

Image
Finished the tail for the moment. Now to work on the back legs and then add more detail and texture to the areas that need it. And yes, if you couldn't already tell, I was putting off working on the back legs because I had/have no idea what I am going to do with them lol but now I have no choice but to start them. Butt view. The legs actually look OK from this side, just need detail and slight angle adjustment.

Sketch #357

Image
I probably have already drawn a pair of scissors before but don't think it was this pair. I probably should have made a list to keep track but I probably would have lost it lol Eight sketches to go....

Sketch #356

Image
This is supposed to be a cookie but looks more like a squished hat lol It was a good cookie tho. 9 more sketches to go and if I wasn't going to bo so busy I was thinking of doing a self portrait a week but i am pretty sure I will not have the time for that even tho it would be good practice with faces.

Sunday Sketches

Thought a quick sketch of the new couch would work for todays sketch. 10 more to do lol Working on the underside of the dragon. I thought I would get this finished before tomorrow, but nope, my elbow is back to hurting. So tomorrow will be fun at uni with a messed up elbow. I know its Tennis Elbow , and I also know rest is the best treatment. When do I have time to rest? Linking up to Sunday Sketches

Coloured Bunny

Image
Still needs shading but the flat colours are done. I might make the eyes look a bit different then they do at the moment, easy enough to make them look like this again. I ordered a bunch of A&W flavored junk food, so today's sketch is one of the jelly pop bottles. It does taste like A&W Root Beer, well at least how I remember it lol

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
One lonely book read this week, and it was another zombie book. I go through phases were I read a lot of cheesy zombie books and then go back to reading "serious" stories.   Dead: Steve's Story by T.W. Brown My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Its your typical zombie apocalypse story. Zombies show up, start eating people, people panic, lots of shooting and stabbing of zombies, lots of running, so nothing new there. But its the characters that make this book. Yes, you do have a few blink and you miss them characters, but the main characters in this book are written pretty decently for a zombie book, they add to the plot by their actions rather than just getting eaten. In the end, I was hoping the group would actually survive. 4 stars because I didn't think it was a waste of battery life on my tablet and like I wrote, pretty surprised at how much I liked the story.
