Left handed sketch number 3. Supposed to be a tiger but looks more like a lion, as long as it looks like a big cat of some type, I am happy with it lol

Left Handed 365

Image
I was going to wait awhile before trying to do another 365 but after doing that left handed sketch yesterday, I thought I could turn the left handed practice into another 365. I'm not going to draw from life because I don't have another 365 things to draw so most of the drawings will probably be from photos. Should be interesting to see if there is any difference between the first sketch and the last. This is sketch #2 of a tiny foal and at least you can tell its a horse lol

Sunday Sketches

I forgot how hard it is to draw with my left hand lol But since I can't use my right hand to draw, I figured I better start practising with my left in case this is a long term problem. Its going to take a lot of practice to teach my left hand to draw, and I'm not going to kid myself and think I can get my left handed drawings to the same level as the right handed ones, but my sketchy/scratchy style works well for my left hand. My left hand is so tired from drawing this lol

Weekly Book Wrap Up

Image
After: Nineteen Stories of Apocalypse and Dystopia by Ellen Datlow My rating: 3 of 5 stars Like with most anthologies you have your hits and misses, I did feel like a few of these short stories would work well as novels, just fill out the backstory more and expand on what is already written. One of the stories about how the Hadron collider caused the end of the world because it pissed off god almost made me stop reading the book, god and science don't go together even in a fictional story, there were enough people thinking the world would end because of the Hadron collider, you don't need to reinforce the idea. As expected, the stories by authors I've read before I enjoyed, and I think thats mostly because they write the genre well and know what works. Throwback Thursday

Image
Me in 2007 and a bunch of reptiles/lizards since I still can't draw or use my right hand to use any digital programs, so have some old photos. These are Bearded Dragons that really didn't want to go back in their box, stuck to my clothing. I miss my snake. No space for one now, and even a basic coloured Ball Python is not cheap to get here. Sky would probably freak out if she saw one lol I can't remember what this lizard is called, some type of monitor lizard I think which doesn't narrow it down at all (I don't know lizards very well, more of a reptile person). All I can remember is that it was pretty bloody heavy lol

Blue Bird

Image
The finished blue bird. Another experiment with the Yupo paper but this time I took a hard eraser to it to try to create highlights. I think I need a harder eraser to properly create highlights. The eraser residue ended up acting like a wax resits when I went over the areas with markers again. Created a really neat effect. Obvs I finished this before my arm was put in a sling and I want to do some more experimenting with the Yupo paper but it will have to wait until my arm feels better  :(

Will Never Finish This

Image
I want to finish it, just seems like I'm not supposed to lol My arm is in a sling due to tendon and nerve damage from the fall last week so working on anything right now is pretty much impossible. Told to not use it for a week and then see what happens after that. Lesson to everyone, go to a doctor after any big falls. Not that it would have made a big difference in my case, but probably wouldn't of been a bad idea.

Sunday Sketches

Finished the dragon sketch last night which is great because I can hardly move my right arm. And that could be anything, from my fall last week or its just irritated again. Typing is fun lol typing with just a left hand is hard lol And more mess with markers on Yupo paper. Still experimenting with the paper so not everything goes to plan.

Sick of Dragons Yet?

Image
This is the start of section #2, still needs flat colour on the belly scales and the back fins, but its a start at least. This is just an example of what it might look like. Obvs you wont be able to see the starry sky in the waves, I actually just noticed that. Was staring at this thinking something didn't look right and finally figured out it was the stars in the waves. Starting another tiny dragon sketch, this one not so pointy looking. This little sketchbook is going to end up filled with different dragon heads if I keep sketching them.

Part One Finished

Image
Three more parts of the dragon/sea monster to finish and then I need to put them together. There is a reason I am creating all the pieces separately, they need to move/scroll on a site. I hope my idea works out, but even if it doesn't, I will still end up with a dragon/creature in the end.  Linking up to Paint Party Friday

Sea Creature?

Image
Still haven't made up my mind if this is a dragon or a sea monster, but had a bit of spare time to work on it between research, which I might have to restart and focus on one thing as AAC is a huge topic to cover in an essay that is only supposed to be 1000 words long. Almost done with the basic shading now, I think I just need to shade the yellow scales and then this section is finished *crosses fingers*

Tiny Dragon

Image
I've been drawing the sketchy dragons in a small 6 by 8.5 inch sketchbook. Yes, there are smaller sketchbooks out there, but after using A3 size (11.7 x 16.5 in) sketchbooks for so many drawings, even for my 365 sketch challenge, this smaller size is a bit of a challenge to get use to.
