Eagle Owl #12

Bit of work done on the left side of the face and the left side of the beak. I was staring at this scan trying to figure out what was bugging me. Finally figured it out.

Besides lack of shading, the 2 sides of the top of his head are not level. You can see it here in the red circle. Easy enough to fix, but I didn't notice that at all when etching and probably wouldn't have noticed until I went to print it. At least with scanning the plate I don't have to waste ink by making a lot of test prints to see if things are looking right.

  3. It is good to scan or photograph our art during the process, for some reason we can see it more clearly than from the original. So glad you will be happy with the fix. It is looking great.

  8. Christine, hopefully i get a lot done, or at least get caught up on the movies I've missed lol

    thank you carol :)

tammie, i usuallu just use mirrors to see mistakes but it doesn't work with etching, you need the lines darkened, but photos/scanning is def a good way to see if anything is wrong

thanks Faye :) and the mistake should be easy to fox with a bit of shading :)

    thank you Jean :)

    thanks Clare :)

You really have an excellent eye for detail and critiquing, Jennifer.
I remember being told at art school that until you can "see your work with a critical eye" you will not grow.
This was back when the mirror or upside-down were our only aids ...that and time! Now the monitor shows all!
