Sunday Sketches

A sketch done for Illustration Fridays topic of "Smoke". As soon as I saw the topic, my mind went right to a dragon. Here is this first sketch done quickly in pen and then I opened Painter and sketch it digitally so I would have a frame to go by when painting it on my tablet.

Not as angry or evil looking in the digital sketch, more cute than anything else.

Your dragons are looking great! I can definitely see the connection between dragons and smoke...

Your dragons are not scary in the least. They are sweet and so well done. I am getting ready to buy a Wacom and cannot wait to play with it. My son just bought the latest model and he gave me his ancient one. It is really out of date but fun to mess with. I think you came up with a great representation of the "smoke" prompt. genie

I like both sketches. I agree with Carol, the first sketch definitely gives a great representation of 'smoke' in motion.

thanks Serena :) I think a bit of that motion was lost in the finished one tho :)

Wow, this is really a fascinating association to find this amazing dragon within a cloud of smoke. One matches the other perfectly and I love the dragon!

You really do have THE best dragon sketches. You might them look so easy yet, every time I try my hand at one, I simply fail. lol Well done :)
