Sunday Sketches

A sketch done for Illustration Fridays topic of "Smoke". As soon as I saw the topic, my mind went right to a dragon. Here is this first sketch done quickly in pen and then I opened Painter and sketch it digitally so I would have a frame to go by when painting it on my tablet.

Not as angry or evil looking in the digital sketch, more cute than anything else.

    Your dragons are not scary in the least. They are sweet and so well done. I am getting ready to buy a Wacom and cannot wait to play with it. My son just bought the latest model and he gave me his ancient one. It is really out of date but fun to mess with. I think you came up with a great representation of the "smoke" prompt. genie

      thanks, I can't seem to draw scary dragons no matter how hard I try lol

      hated my Wacom, got a Huion tablet that I love tho :)

    I like both sketches. I agree with Carol, the first sketch definitely gives a great representation of 'smoke' in motion.

    Wow, this is really a fascinating association to find this amazing dragon within a cloud of smoke. One matches the other perfectly and I love the dragon!

This weeks colours for The Summer of Color are 2 purples and a yellow and this is what I did with them. Not my favorite colours so really racked my brain trying to think how I could use them and which bird to use. Decided to go with a juvenile Golden Eagle since I don't have any photos of a purple bird :p I think I prefer the black background, the yellow seems to stand out more against it. Which do you prefer?
