Why did I think this looked good? :p

Can't remember if I posted this before, I know I didn't post the photos since they are new. For a Uni project we had to create a dystopia or a utopia  and then something from that world.I created a  planet were squirrels are the dominant species, but its still a tribal civilization and different squirrel species fight each other. I think I just wanted to draw/create something cute lol He has a little spear :p Made a little table and lined the inside with what ever twigs I could find in the winter :p

Slow going but getting there :p Added more shading, a bit more work on the crest and more wrinkles, so many wrinkles :/ 

Close-up scan of the Cassowary's eye and some of the skin wrinkles. Looks a little confusing, just a bunch of scratches this close. And the bird as it stands at the moment after finally getting some time to work on it. Spent the last 2 days getting my portfolio together for assessment on Monday, but finally finished yay! :)

I'm assuming this is in the spring and its Danelle's birthday since mine is in the winter and I am wearing a t-shirt. Also there is only one cake, whenever it was my cousin's (the other person in the photo), or my birthday when we were younger we always had cakes/gifts the same day since we were born so close day wise. Which led to mom thinking for many many years, (until teenage age), my birthday was the 4th when its the 3rd :p

Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between etching updates, so here is the latest image next to the last one to try to help in showing the difference between them. :) Would have more done, but my back was really starting to hurt so had to take a break.

Started on the crest today, need to darken the base to make it stand out a bit more. All the wrinkles on his neck are going to drive me insane. If its not  loads of feathers to etch, its lots of wrinkles to drive me crazy :p This doesn't quite fit on my scanner, so bigger than A3 by about half an inch. I need more plexi-glass now and really have to start building a press before I get buried in etching plates.

Well a small update, he has an ear now :p Some people have guessed this could be a peacock, but its going to be a Cassowary . This one at Edinburgh Zoo did not like me at all, followed me up and down the fence giving me the evil eye :p

To John :) The Lab is Molly, 14 and every time she sees John she rushes, (well tries to rush) over to John so she can get a scratch. The other day John was sitting on the grass and she climbed into his lap, and of course I didn't have my camera.

Messing around in Illustrator, made a simple book cover for my favourite book, (minus the fuzzydragons tag of course). Its not my favourite book because of the violence, but the message in it. I do think everyone should try to read it, some people find the language hard to grasp but it is worth a read. And if you haven't read or seen the movie (didn't care for the movie compared to the book, I did feel like it glorified the violence, but that's my opinion), you probably wont get the milk reference but I liked the action of the milk and how it looked after I turned it into a vector image :) I guess you could call this fan art :)

John and his dad. Love the wallpaper :) unless it is that wallpaper that is like foam/water proof, that stuff is a pain to get off the wall.

Another etching. OK so not really a surprise that is an etching. But its a bird I haven't done before, so that is a surprise :p

Went for a drive into the hills, (have a hard time calling them mountains, go see the Rockies and you will understand why :p). Still snowy in some parts and Heather, well we think its Heather is being burnt off the sides of the hills so there is a very strong smell and haze at some points. The weather here has been gorgeous, so took advantage of it since it is Scotland and it could rain all summer :p Its very hard to get nice shots from a moving vehicle lol but I did manage to get a few. And now to stay home because if the weather is as gorgeous as it has been all week on the weekend, everywhere will be swamped and there will be even more idiot drivers on the road :p Cairngorms

Finished this today. And while I could add more to it, at this size, it starts to get messy and too dark very fast. With the bigger etchings I will add as much detail as possible but the smaller size does make that hard to do.

This times its John in the snow. Could probably make a really bad Game of Thrones joke somehow out of this but wouldn't make any sense if you haven't read/seen any Game of Thrones stuff. :p Not sure of age, 2, 3?? And its called a "sledge" here not a sled, confused me at first :p

Decided to use both ends of the scribber on this. The really really pointy end for fine detail, the shorter end for shading. Seems to work well doing that :) Had an appointment at maxillofacial today to talk about my left jaw joint, (the "real" one :p). Probably going to have to get that replaced as well, so yay.... I said if its going to happen, do it before I have to go back to Uni since I can not afford to take off the 6 weeks+ it takes to be able to eat and talk normally again once Uni starts back full time.

Need to fix the eye on this, looks a little odd :p Finding it hard to get proper gradient shading with the really really pointy tool, but it works well to get little feathers. Will have to practice more with it :)

So for the 4 week project for Interior & Environmental Design we had to reuse/change a chair, "Toy Chair" by Philippe Starck. With me getting sick I couldn't do anything with the physical chair and I can't use pretty much anything in the workshop anyway due to all the sharp tools that I could lose a finger using :p So I ended up doing a lot of work in Sketchup to get some work done for the project. All 9 of us needed to create a poster with our ideas on it, and this was mine. Its very orange, but since the chairs were orange I left the poster template orange and added more  blue to it.

No surprise as to what this is supposed to be :p Using a really really sharp tool for this and I think it might be too sharp lol I can get great detail, but I'm finding it a little hard to control. I think I just have to figure out how to hold it differently since it is a bit longer than than the other side of the tool I was using. And yay! off for 3 weeks :D

Mom's dad, me and mom's dad's partner, (not sure if they were married or not actually, so will stick with partner). All I really remember about her is making lots of home made pickles and eating them then getting sick :p Don't remember a thing about mom's dad. You can't get beer bottles like that in Canada any more,and no idea what kind of beer it is, the label isn't ringing any bells.
