30 Days of Dragons #30

Image
Glad to have drawn 30 different dragons, but glad its done since I was starting to run out of ideas lol Might take a break from the pen sketching, not sure tho since I really do like making the quick little drawings and I will be done uni soon so will have time to sketch the next month.

2015 Reading Challenge Jennifer has completed her goal of reading 90 books in 2015! hide 91 of 90 (100%) view books Finished my reading goal for the year, so never have to pick up another book until next year :p (have 3 on the go at the moment, so that wont happen)   The Falling Woman by Pat Murphy My rating: 3 of 5 stars very slow burning story but interesting read since I haven't really read much with ancient Mayans as one of the main subjects. One dimensional characters but didn't expect anything else from the type of story, quick beach/travel read Typoholic: Material Types in Design by Viction Workshop My rating: 4 of 5 stars Great ideas for creating text, really nice photos :)

Goat Etching

Image
Still working on the Barn Owl etching, I just need to get a smaller etching done so I can possibly print it at uni. Might not be able to print until after the break but the guy in charge of etching said it wouldn't be a problem, but to just keep an ear out for when the next etching workshop is. Had to show him bunch of the plates I etched, and it felt like I was going to a job interview lol

30 Days of Dragons #27

Image
So glad its Friday and I can sleep in tomorrow :p 3 dragons to go and then my little side project will be complete.

30 Days of Dragons #26

Image
Almost forgot to draw a dragon today.Cross between a Dodo and a dragon?

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
Art from when I was 15. Says on it, "OK, but was supposed to be a human figure" lol

30 Days of Dragons #25

Image
so very busy....Quick dragon sketch today, that I actually really like. That is usually what happens, the sketches I really like are the ones I don't really think about when drawing :p

30 Days of Dragons #24

Image
Dragon holding a stethoscope :p Spent 6 hours in the Hospital today because the doctor was worried I had a blood clot in my lungs, or a really bad infection. Turned out to be just muscles causing the problem, something simple but very painful. Playing catch up now since I had planed on finishing my essay for Uni.

Sunday Sketches

An old annoyed looking dragon. Snowed yesterday but thankfully not a lot and most of it is gone now.  Not enough for a snowman, but I'm fine with that. Sky would probably just end up spending the whole day barking at it threw the window :p

30 Days of Dragons #21

Image
Possibly thinking of a seahorse when I drew this :p

Weekly Book Wrap Up Nov, 21

Image
One book away from my goal. Actually I think its two because I didn't finish a book I started because it was so bad. A book has to be pretty bad for me not to finish it and stick to my 50 page rule. Give a book 50 pages to tell a story and if after that it doesn't improve, bin it :p Typography 32 by Type Directors Club My rating: 4 of 5 stars really nice book, full of great colour photos and lots of different ideas for typography :) North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell My rating: 5 of 5 stars Like Pride and Prejudice, but not as posh :p

Finished Fake Exhibition Poster

Image
I think this is the version I am going to go with. Probably give it a few days and then have another look at it. Then I will print it out at home to see what it looks like, and if I get the go ahead on Wednesday, I will take it to the printers to get printed A2 size.Graphics is not cheap with all the printing we have to get done. Even tho we have 2 A3 printers, seriously thinking of getting an A2 printer next year if I get into graphics again :p Cost a bit to get one at first but would probably start paying for itself pretty fast.

30 Days of Dragons #20

Image
One dentist visit later and, 3 chipped teeth, 1 cracked tooth and a tooth abscess. The abscess explains the radiating pain on the left side and thankfully the other teeth don't seem to be causing pain anymore, its just the left side. No antibiotics since I have had 2 rounds of them in the last month, unless it gets really bad and then I am just going to phone the people that fixed my jaw since they should know what to do since I still can't open my mouth the whole way due to swelling. Not going to be fixed for a week tho, so will not be talking a lot and popping a lot of pain killers :p

30 Days of Dragons #19

Image
My teeth are going to end up looking like this guy's teeth soon. So 4 teeth possibly broken, 1 really hurting and from looking at the photo, it looks cracked right down the middle. Its not the best time of year to take a day off to try to get seen by a dentist since things are due next week, but this really hurts and pain killers are doing nothing. 2 were chipped/broken today eating small fruit gummies,  a back molar broke somehow, and I think the really painful one was possibly damaged when I had a root canal a few weeks ago. Been sort of hurting all week, but now, its effecting talking and giving me a headache from hell. jeeze, been complaining a lot on here about my teeth. Blame the lack of reasonably priced dental care in Canada :p

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
Really old art from when I was 12. Been drawing birds longer than I thought lol And 4 years later, it was dinosaurs. I really wanted to be a paleontologist when I was younger, probably changed my mind due to bad grades :p

30 Days of Dragons #18

Image
This month, actually this whole 1st semester at Uni has gone by so fast. We are off for a week in a week, then its assessment time. Which means another week off, and then the only thing booked after that is feedback. So really, I only have this week and the next until I am off for Xmas lol Yeah we get more time off than a lot of the other people at Uni, but we are in everyday during the weeks we are supposed to be in so do a lot of work.

More on the Barn Owl

Image
Almost done the wing and then its time to properly shade it. So probably at least 8-12 hours work but thats not too bad for something this size.

30 Days of Dragons #17

Image
A snickering dragon?

30 Days of Dragons #16

Image
A bunch of dragon parts for todays sketch.

Music Monday

Image
jeeze I was 6 when this came out lol

30 Days of Dragons #15

Image
A happy looking dragon today :) Kind of reminds me of a jester with the horns they way they are :p

30 Days of Dragons #14

Image
I figured I should start numbering these or I am going to lose track of what day I am on. Today, its 3 for the price of one :p

Weekly Book Wrap Up Nov,14

Image
Only one lonely book finished this week, but I've been too busy to read anything else :/   Camouflage by Joe Haldeman My rating: 2 of 5 stars Started out strong and had enough interest to keep me reading, but about half way trough it really started to go downhill. The story became boring and too repetitive, too predictable. I did start North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, liking it so far but might take awhile to read since its 521 pages long :p 2015 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 87 books toward her goal of 90 books. hide 87 of 90 (96%) view books

30 Days of Dragons #13

Image
Technically and depending on what you read/play (RPG), this isn't a dragon. Sort of a cross between a wrym and a wyvern. Yes, I just showed how much of a geek I am :p

Stitches Out

Image
Thankfully the stitches are finally out as of yesterday since they were starting to bug me and itch. On the bad side tho, taking them out seems to have worsened the MS flare up I had from the surgery so my walking has gone to hell, but that should start to get better again since I don't have any surgeries planned for awhile lol I just look like I am limping more or am drunk, stumbling around. You can see the little piece of gold actually, well were it is in my eyelid. The bruising on my eyelid has pretty much faded, except near my eyelashes. Looks like badly done eyeliner :p

30 Days of Dragons #12

Image
Side profile sketch of a two legged dragon. I don't very often actually draw dragons with four legs. Usually end up combining the front legs with the wings if I do. hmmm maybe sketch that soon....

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
15 when I did this lol  And an attempt to draw a Xoloitzcuintle at age 22. Even tho they have no hair, they can be hard to draw lol

30 Days of Dragons #11

Image
Reminds me sort of a Komodo Dragon :p

Draft Horse Update

Image
The horse is pretty much done, now to finish the tack.

30 Days of Dragons #10

Image
One very odd looking baby dragon.

30 Days of Dragons #9

Image
Day #9 and I'm already thinking of what I can sketch for next month lol Probably either go with monsters or just random fantasy characters from different mythologies. So if you have any myths you might want to see drawn, let me know and I will see what I can do.

30 Days of Dragons #8

This is definitely one of the sketches I want to try to develop more and add colour. Not sure yet if that will be digitally or with coloured pencils.

30 Days of Dragons #7

Image
I'm starting to wonder if I will run out of ideas for quick dragon sketches lol

Weekly Book Wrap Up Nov,7

4 books for today, and yes most of them were full of pictures but still counting them since I had to look threw them for Uni :p Graphis Poster Annual 2015 by B Martin Pedersen My rating: 4 of 5 stars great colour reproductions of some really interesting posters. Graphis New Talent by Graphis My rating: 4 of 5 stars Read the 2015 edition but its not on Goodreads. Really nice seeing what has been produced recently and what is currently trending. Great colour reproductions. Mid-Century Ads: Advertising from the Mad Men Era by Jim Heimann My rating: 3 of 5 stars Another great reference for ads from that era. Interesting to see actually how things have changed but how so much hasn't :p The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon My rating: 3 of 5 stars I don't know any one that would be on the Autism spectrum, so couldn't say how accurate the portrayal of autistic characters is but I found the characters likable. well, I liked the "good" characters,
