Eagle #2?

Image
Added a basic background with neocolours just so the paper wasn't so white and I will either go over it again with more neocolours or with coloured pencils once more of the bird is done.Really like the polychromos pencils on this paper, Fabriano Artistico. The pencils glide over the paper and blend really well on it. No idea when I will be able to work on this next since my jaw surgery is tomorrow, hopefully it doesn't sit gathering dust too long. And hopefully I am not in the hospital for more then one night, would be better if I was sent home tomorrow, but not holding my breath for that.

Triptych

More cranes :p I need to paint one more big watercolour piece and then I can come back to these and finalize them. Darken and define some areas. I need to mount them together so there will be these 3,(probably not displayed in this order tho, will move them around to see what looks better), a long narrow piece below them and then a big square piece below that. So its about 40 inches long when put together,(if I measured right :p). No idea where its going to go when finished, but you never know, someone might buy it :)

Kiss Kiss

Image
I spent 3 hours walking around the Scottish National Gallery and my foot is killing me, but I really wanted too see this before it was gone in February.   Auguste Rodin’s The Kiss . This is the second of three full scale marble versions.   I wasn't going to go to Edingburgh to see it since my foot and jaw are killing me, but John said I would probably in the future want to kick myself if I didn't go, so off we went, and not a very nice day to go. It was pouring rain and windy the whole way there and back :/ It is very impressive to see in person, weighs 3.5 tons o.0 how they got it in the building I have no idea. Really liked being able to walk all the way around the sculpture and see every part of it .     The muscle definition is amazing, I can't imagine the work that goes into making something like this. Glad I did go see it, and glad I could take some photos of it.

5 Cranes

Image
This isn't done yet, but I need to paint 5 more, so want to wait until the others are finished before I decide if this need to be darker or not. The cranes are not perfect but I like that, makes each one a little more unique.

Peek-A-Boo

Image
Another bird :) Not sure what I am going to do with the background yet, use just coloured pencils or Neocolors on it, but I wanted to make sure the eye looked OK first because if the eyes look odd, the whole piece will look odd.

More Cranes

Image
Some more origami cranes done in watercolour this time. I really just wanted to see if I could successfully make the cranes look like they were made from folded paper. I think I manage to do that :)

Cultural Identity

Image
I don't remember posting about this class for college, but our main project for it was to design badges(buttons) from items that we think represent us. We needed to draw 5 objects, and its harder then you think to figure out 5 items/ideas that represent yourself. I chose, music (piano),wildlife (feather), printmaking (a roller), dragons (little figurine), and my Reibif injector for the MS. We drew the items and then had to take a section of the drawing and design a badge from that. This is a section of the piano which was then turned into the below for the badge. I really liked how the small section when duplicated is diamond shaped and it creates a nice pattern. We didn't really have to do anything else design wise with the images, but I could not resists messing around in Photoshop with them. I do design work a lot, how you can start off with a simple image or idea and end up with something that looks like the above :) This is a section of the drawing I ...

I Colour A lot of Eyes

Image
For Sale I used the Luminance pencils I bought for my birthday on black Stonehenge paper, and I was afraid that I would like them too much. At £2.70 a pencil I can't afford to get any more :p When I do an exchange rate to Canadian I give myself a heart attack, thats almost $5 a pencil! ouch :p I guess liking them is better then spending the money and hating them. They feel like a cross between a coloursoft or prisma and a polychromos pencil. Blend really well and the colours are still vibrant on dark paper. I'm going to have to break down and slowly by some more of them. A person can never have too many pencils :)

White Tiger Finished

Prints for Sale Here I ended up cropping most of the background away and focus on the tigers face. I think it works better this way then the whole face. Now onto something new, not sure what yet.

Almost Finished

Image
No idea what I am going to draw next, maybe a few different dog breeds, or various pet animals so that I can maybe start offering pet commissions. grrr, can't stop looking at that eye, really need to fix it soon :p And creepy teeth!! Mould of my lower teeth, they are really chipped :p Haven't gotten a letter yet from the dentist surgery about my jaw joint replacement surgery, but I was told by another member of staff at the hospital that it will be on the 29th of this month. yay....well not really. Don't really want surgery, but I'm getting sick and tired of only being able to have soup without my jaw cracking. I wont freak people out with pictures after the surgery, probably be pretty bruised and blagh looking because of the stitches.

Eagle Etching #2

Image
Almost done with this and ready to print. My fingers are red from having to scratch at the surface so much :p I prefer working on plexi-glass for etchings because I find it easier to see what the end picture will look like. Haven't used any metal plates since high school, so should probably see if I can get some to try again. Even with gloves on I get the ink everywhere, and since its oil and really doesn't come off of clothes. its a good thing I only wear stained clothes already to college :p Its very tempting to just leave this once its finished and frame it, I really like the look, reminds me a lot of using scratchboard.

White Tiger #6

Image
I need to make the top of the left eye a bit taller and darker so the eyes match up, but that is easily fixed :) Not much left now to colour, I had wanted to get this done before going back to college, but thats tomorrow and I probably should get some sleep :p My hair is now red :D Very red (my forehead looks so wrinkly here :p ).

Books

Image
The plan is to read 80 books this year, might up it if I manage to get a lot read during the summer. And I tend to read more now that I have an e-reader, a lot easier to hold and no pages to try to turn, (many times I have gotten frustrated trying to turn a page and given up tossing the book across the room :p) There are a few books I want to try to read, The Luminaries, (832 pages !!), War and Peace,(dont drop it on a foot or you might break a toe), find a few classics I haven't read yet, also start making videos for youtube about books, (big booktubing community on youtube). Better get reading since I should have probably finished something already :p 2014 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 0 books toward her goal of 80 books. hide 0 of 80 (0%) view books Managed to get one more book read last year, bit of a waste of time actually :( Parasite by Mira Grant My rating: 2 of 5 stars I had su...

White Tiger #5

Image
Added a basic background, might lighten it in places when its done and add more colours that are in the eyes to the background.Hopefully get back to the etching soon so that I have another plate done before I go back to college on the 8th. So my options for school next year are apply for the BA at college or apply for a few things at Uni. No guarantee I would get into anything, and if I don't then it will just give me more time to build a press if I don't get around to it this summer.

Art Goals 2014

Image
I have a lot of blog friends that make art goals for the year, I normally don't because I am too busy or if the MS flares its lovely head, things tend to get side tracked but I thought what the hell, why not make a few goals for this year. 1. Finish college-doable as long as I don't have another relapse 2. Build an etching press-might need some help with building it, but it is possible to build 3. Try some different coloured pencils I haven't used before And I think those are enough :p Almost done half of the tiger's face, might have to get another white pencil tho to finish the other side, unless I just finish half of it and be lazy.
