5 Hours Later....

Managed to get a bit more work done on the tiger. The eye is probably too yellow, but can't fix that now. Really liking how the fur on his face is looking, still need to darken the values, but will do that when more of the tiger is coloured.

More Fish

Image
More messing around with the gelli plate and the fish lino plate. So far with the gelli plate, I seem to prefer the ghost prints over the first pulled print.

Small Update

Image
Got a bit of work done on the bridge of the nose, still need to darken some areas and put a layer of white and grey down so I don't make the lighter areas to dark. Working on this in between college work and unpacking boxes. Still haven't found the hair conditioner, but did find the toaster :p

Finished Watercolor Nude

Image
Possibly overworked some areas, but overall happy with how this turned out :) Now to draw a male nude, lots of stock photos to use on Deviantart, so its handy when you need to get a few extra drawings done. Nothing beats being able to draw from life, but sometimes you just can't, so photos are the next best thing.

Pics of Art, Still Snowing Out.....

Image
This is going to take awhile :p The joys of using coloured pencils, must try to be patient lol   Started to colour the nude watercolour, liking how this looks.

Book Review

I recently finished " Trilogy: A Collection" by Prudence MacGregor. A collection of 3 stories with paranormal elements to them, with characters that end up questioning what is going on in the world around them.  All 3 stories were well written, but I found them too short. Yes they are short stories, but I felt like they ended too abruptly, that I was left with many questions that I wanted answered. It was frustrating how you were left with so many unanswered questions, and I felt like the author didn't give enough information in the story for you to even fill the answers in yourself. I wanted to know more about the characters,(even if the characters were written as seeming very introverted), and I felt when the story hit its climax, that was it. I wanted more. The writing on the back says each story has their own moral and life lesson, I don't think any of the stories were long enough to have moral or life lessons. Of the 3 stores, I found the second story,"

Boxes still everywhere

Image
A lovely gift from Norma , also had a packet of rub on tattoos. Must try not to put them on Sky (joking!). The start of what I hope to be a watercolour piece. Slow going because of all of the boxes everywhere and having to find art stuff, and my hand going numb. It very frustrating actually. I think I wouldn't be so frustrated about my hand if it just decided to stay numb, but this numb and not numb is getting on my nerves. Its like someone is flicking a switch to on and off, just pick a setting already! :p

Little late in the year for snow isn't it?

Reduction Lino?

Image
An idea for a reduction lino print? I like the knight, he is cute with with his oversized helmet :p I need to do some research about artist books, I know what they are, but don't really know anything about them.

Brrrrrr

Image
View from the new kitchen. And it is freezing!! Cold here, but freezing there since it is higher ground where this new house is. I might have to return my card that says Canadian at this rate if I get any colder :p Someone needed a pillow, decided my bag works :p

Ink Everywhere

Image
Proof prints of the Jabberwocky carving. If I was going to mat this, I would mat right up the the edge of the images so that there was no white edges; the image would flow better without the white. Made a blue background (its shiny :D ),with the gelli-plate and then used the lino like a giant stamp. And a red version, which I think works better. The blue looks a bit too washed out for me.

More Printing

Image
Lots of blue prints, and a proof print for the Jabberwocky in the back. Should making art be this much fun? :p

6 or so Hours Later....

Image
All 3 panels are carved :) I am glad this is the soft stuff, my hands would be a lot more sore if this was the harder stuff you need to warm up to carve easily. I can't stand the hard lino, easier to get in bigger sizes here and cheaper then the soft stuff, but my fingers and back thank me for not being cheap with art supplies :p

Music Monday

Image
Emo music :p;) I was supposed to have college today, a whole day of life drawing, but I went home before we even started because I feel like crap :/ Probably not going to be able to go in tomorrow either, but that might give me more of a chance of being well enough to go in on Wednesday *crosses fingers*

3 Panels

Image
You can sort of see what the finished prints might look like. Need to add a few dead looking trees to the left side of the bigger panel to tie the panels together. Looks really empty in that area at the moment, so def. needs something.
