Small Update

Image
Really like the way the water is starting to look. I didn't now how I was going to etch the water, but figured just approach it the same was I would with the bird. Focus on the texture, or lack of texture in this case and try to make the water look like it has slight movement to it.

Book Wrap-Up August

Image
Net yet the end of the month, but I probably wont finish any more books, so here are the books I finished this month. I also started to make book related videos on my Youtube channel , and will hopefully keep that up :)   Deathworld 2 by Harry Harrison My rating: 3 of 5 stars Was OK, not as much world building as the first, so that aspect of the book suffers. There is one character that should have def. been punched a lot sooner in the story; its one of those characters that just annoys you but that is the point. West of Eden by Harry Harrison My rating: 3 of 5 stars This book deals with what if Dinosaurs were not wiped out and evolved into "civilized" beings and how that effects the humanoids that are around. Its an interesting idea and thankfully they did die out as I don't really fancy being hunted to death just for being a mammal. The main characters are well written, and you get a general idea of what the area looks like, I just felt like the story drag

Ripples

Image
Starting to look like water ripples, so thats good :p I am going to have to go back and darken a lot of the feathers on the duck so that they are darker then the reflections so the bird looks like he is above the water.

Throwback Thursday

Image
1984, love my smile, but what the hell am I wearing? :p Danielle would have been pretty much brand new here and the other person is dad's mom. Who I don't remember much about other then she baked really good cookies.  That is very.., interesting wallpaper lol

Cough Cough Cough

Would have more done on this, but I can't stop coughing. And that can get dangerous when using a sharp pointy thing :p

Almost done with the duck and then I can move onto the reflection in the water. And I still have no idea how I am going to do that lol

Friday Reads Video

Me rambling about books again :p

Getting a Blister

Image
Needs a lot of shading so he doesn't look so flat, but the feathers look OK at the moment :) I'm starting to get a blister at the base of my thumb from the etching tool. meh, just means I work too much :p

Throwback Thursday

Image
I have no idea what year this was taken. Mostly just posting it because of the fetching blue glasses  :p I don't even remember this being taken or where it was taken.

Watercolour Peacock

For sale  Do people spell watercolour as one word or two? I always spell it as one word, but I have seen it as two in a lot of books. Don't think it really matters, just curious.

Music Monday

An Australian band I had never heard of before I met John, one of many actually.

More Meeko

Image
Meeko/Miko, however its spelt ;) Looking fluffy so that good. I wanted more done on this but I seem to have a frog in my throat that is jumping around a lot and its a bit painful and hard to concentrate :/ Hopefully I finish this in the next few days *crosses fingers*

Throwback Thursday

Image
I forgot to post a photo last Thursday, so here are two to make up for it :) On the back it says 1984, but I look older then 3 and my sister look what 6 months old?? So its probably 1985 instead, unless its really late in the year. Notice the frogs on the windowsill, mom collected frogs so we had a lot around the house. She also collected chamber pots...clean :p 1985 on the back of this one. I assume its Easter because of the bunny on the bag. I clearly remember that dress, very odd that I do.

Need More Black Pencils

Image
More work on done Meeko, who is a Husky, not a Malamute :p I always confuse the 2 unless they are side by side. I should know this having worked at a dog groomers, but we didn't get that many Malamutes, even tho they do groom one now. Actually to tell the truth, I'm glad we didn't. Would have taken forever to bath and blow dry, a Keeshond took almost all day and they are nowhere near the size of a Malamute. And I have figured out what to do with all of the Prismas I have, use them for backgrounds on this paper since it doesn't matter if they get used up, since I don't use them any more and wont be getting any more.

Too Many Feathers

Image
Last month it was too many flowers, this month its too many feathers :p

Duck #2

Image
More done on the duck etching. Still needs work, but as usual I want to fill in more of the bird before I work on the shading :) The water ripples might turn out to be a bit of a challenge, not sure yet how I am going to create them....

Music Monday

The movies are just popcorn movies to watch when bored, but the soundtracks for all of them are great to listen to :)

Dust Everywhere

Image
More work on Meeko. The background is just loosely laid down so I have an idea what it will look like when finished. Might just have a light blue background and leave it at that, simple can work. Post linked over at Artist Play Room :)

Scottish Word of the Week

Image
This weeks word is, haar . Last weeks word, hackit was correctly guessed by Norma :) The word means ugly.

Sandpaper

Image
The start of a malamute that lives around here. He is so fluffy and full of energy lol This is on Fisher400 paper, which I love but I don't really see a difference between it and normal sandpaper, so I don't get the huge price difference. I should do a small test with it and normal sandpaper and expose them to sun, water, fixative and then compare the 2. There might be a difference, but I am really starting to notice that a lot of supplies labelled as "artist", are no different from what you could get at a DIY store and for half the price. *edit* I've used coloured pencils on sandpaper to compare them, but the site for the paper says you can use all kinds of different media on the paper, so need to do testing for that. The site says you can wet the paper, but pretty sure you can do the same with normal sandpaper.

More Book Stuff :)

Two videos about books :) A Friday reads video and a Library book haul video.

Pretty Pinks

Image
Calling this done yay :D Yes, my hair is usually pink/red but I really am not a pink type of girl :p This is a lot of pink for me to work on for so long lol I need to work with some other colours for a bit now, and never again flowers! :p I will laugh if I end up drawing flowers for Uni.

Music Monday

I am not a huge Mettalica fan, but I really the album this is off of. Its a great combo of orchestral instruments and more contemporary instruments.

Scottish Word of the Week

This weeks word is, hackit . Last weeks word, haver , means talking nonsense.

Quack #1

Image
Still working on the penguin , I just need to try to fix something first before I work on it any more. So onto another bird. I don't really know how I am going to make the head of this mallard look shiny, but its a challenge I am up for. (hopefully)
