Robin Red Breast

Image
Two types of Robins for todays left handed sketches. A European Robin, tiny and angry at everything but so cute you just laugh at the grumpy little things, (unless you are getting dive bombed by one and then you wish you had a giant flyswatter). For Sale And an American Robin, much bigger and I find not as angry as their tiny relatives. For Sale

365 Sketches #102

Image
A badly drawn and badly put together hammer for Everyday in May #3 For Sale And one more pastel painting done for last months Virtual Paintout . This month is an area in Maine, so will have to have a look and see if anything catches my eye.

New Zealand Waterfall

Image
For Sale Another pastel of New Zealand. A waterfall in Napier, was right down from the hostel at the time.

Another New Zeland Pastel Painting

Image
For Sale I really like creating these small pastel paintings. They are a good was to relax after a stressful week. I have a lot of photos that I can use from NZ, so expect more pastel landscapes in the future.

Lake Erie Pastel

Image
For Sale New paper for me, velour paper. I like it, but had to figure out a way to fix the pastel to the paper without any of the fixative leaving spray marks. John to the rescue for thinking of the spray varnish I have. Worked well and didn't change the colours that much, as fixative can or leave any spray marks on the paper. This is a scene at Lake Erie before it started to rain. Can get pretty windy down by the pier, but the view is really nice.

Whanaura Bay

Image
For Sale A pastel landscape of Whanaura Bay in New Zealand. Very green area with very blue water. Done on fisher 400 paper, which I love, but have some new paper to try now. So expect some more pastel works from me. Can use coloured pencils on the new paper too, so going to try that out one day.

Scottish Glens

Image
For Sale Back to using pastels because they don't hurt my back, just end up with pastels all over my hands and face lol I always forget how much I like using pastels. They force me to work very loose, and I like the result, can't try to be really detailed all the time.

Dragon ACEOs

Image
For Sale Starting to put art back in my Etsy shop and a starting with 2 little ACEOs of dragons of course.Done with Derwent Graphik Line Painters and Derwent Graphik Line Makers. While I still am not 200% sure about the line painters, I have at least found a use for them so they are not a waste of money. For Sale I still find the line painters really messy and almost impossible to control, but the lack of control works when sketching dragons.

Finished Buzzard

Image
For Sale Its very loose for me but that's the look I wanted. Really just wanted the eye to be the main focus :)

Finished Mallard

Image
Prints for Sale Finished the mallard :) I only have digital prints at the moment until I get a press, but you still see all of the line work on the computer print. I am pretty happy with this, the water turned out better than I expected. I kind of wish I had of gone bigger, A3 or bigger, but then I would have a problem trying to find a press to print the plate on. Need to make a huge press one day lol

Watercolour Peacock

Image
For sale  Do people spell watercolour as one word or two? I always spell it as one word, but I have seen it as two in a lot of books. Don't think it really matters, just curious.

Blue Falcon

Image
For Sale Little lino print using Chine Colle technique. I really like using this technique, so many ways to use it and its a bonus I don't need a press.

Polly Wants a Cracker

Image
For Sale   Finished the parrot and now onto a big cat. Going to try to colour another A3 sized piece, working bigger seemed to work all right last time, so might as well try again. No left handed drawing today....seems I might have pulled something in my left arm from using it and giving my right arm a rest the last 2 weeks :/ So now I can't really use my left arm lol

Ok so I lied...

Image
Prints for sale Said I wasn't going to post the fish again, but got a better scan of them, so here they are again :p I still have the plate I used, minus the red printed areas, so I will probably do something with it, just not sure what yet. Mixed media printing?

Toucan W.I.P #2

Image
Started to colour the little Toucan. I really like this paper colour, 'Lagoon', at 15 pence a sheet. I wish  had of grabbed all of it when it was on sale. Huh, just realized this photo is actually bigger than the  drawing in person :p Added prints of the Orca print to Etsy. Didn't put the actual print online for sale yet since I might need to put it in my portfolio.

Finished Tiger

Image
For Sale And now to hopefully work on my owl :)

Reading Challenge

Image
2013 Reading Challenge Jennifer has read 4 books toward her goal of 50 books. hide 4 of 50 (8%) view books Doing another reading challenge this year, and since I read 70 books last year with a goal of 40, I thought I would up the challenge number to 50. It is so much easier to read with my phone then carry around a big book, and I can read on the bus with my phone, but can't read a physical book in a vehicle, which is odd. So if anyone has any book recommendations let me know :) Listed the lioness on Etsy :) Would be hard to part with, but running out of room on the walls or art lol

Seeing Stripes Finished

Image
"Seeing Stripes" Prints for Sale Finished the zebra's eye today. Not a huge change from the last photo posted, but it has eyelashes now and I added some highlights. Really happy with it, so happy I am going to frame it myself. So much cheaper to frame art yourself if you can, and it finishes off a piece so well. Even if I had the cash I don't think I would pay a framer, unless it was a good deal. Its not that hard to do, can just be time consuming if you want to double matte something.

Mail!

Image
Sian was having a contest on her blog to win one of her sock monkeys or an ACEO, so I entered because I think her monkeys are pretty cool looking. I happened to win the monkey yay! And this showed up in the post today. Not for dog use :p And the monkey :D Its very cute, just needs a name now, hmmm....must think of something. nope, its not a new chew toy Sky, read the tag above :p

Puffins! :D

Some lovely things on Etsy that I really like with Puffins :)
