Throwback Thursday

Image
An ACEO from 2008 done in coloured pencils. If it didn't take so long to work this tiny I would probably work more in this size, but for the time you put into them you don't get the money back for your time which is a shame but most people wouldn't pay a lot for something this tiny done in coloured pencil.

Throwback Thursday

Image
A companion piece to the horse I posted last week . This one turned out all right but I do prefer the bay coloured horse, I think the white is too much of a contrast on this colour of paper.

Throwback Thursday Horse

Image
A coloured pencil horse done in 2008. Simple looking but not that simple to do if I remember correctly lol

Throwback Thursday

Image
I found more oldish art when I was going threw some drawers and for some reason that made me think of the art on the walls. I could scan/photograph that to post for Thursday :) This was from a photo I took at the Highland Show in 2007, the day of the monsoon were everything got soaked.

Low Poly Zebra

Image
Redbubble store Continuing on with my patterned animals changed into low poly pieces series, this time a zebra. The stripes really messed with my eyes, kept losing track of where I was working. I really like how this turned out, a simple mostly black and white animal,

Big Grey

Image
More done on the big grey draft horse. Basic first layer of light pencil to help with future shading. I don't want this to look 100% accurate, want a slight old school look to it. The first layer blended with a paper stump. I could have just done this with layer after layer of pencil but I don't have the time or patience for that lol

Horse #1

Image
I don't have a title for this and it is a long way from being finished, but I felt like drawing a horse. Just going to keep the background simple like this and have the main focus be the horse, and I have no idea how long this is going to take me to finish, probably a long time.

Left Handed 365

Image
I was going to wait awhile before trying to do another 365 but after doing that left handed sketch yesterday, I thought I could turn the left handed practice into another 365. I'm not going to draw from life because I don't have another 365 things to draw so most of the drawings will probably be from photos. Should be interesting to see if there is any difference between the first sketch and the last. This is sketch #2 of a tiny foal and at least you can tell its a horse lol

Blue Unicorn

Image
Starting to paint the unicorn, I figure he's a mythical creature so he can have a blue mane :P that or he eats smurfs for lunch. Been playing with the new computer, its a new to me HP Z620 workstation, got it for a very bargain price from a computer recyclers online. Specs when bought for those who are interested: Intel Xeon E5-1620 Quadcore 3.6Ghz 8GB DDR3 RAM 500GB HDD Nvidia NVS300 GPU Specs after John "improved" it Same processor 32GB DDR3 ECC FB RAM 250 GB Samsung SSD (fast...very fast) 2TB Seagate Data HDD AMD HD6770 GPU In future its probably also getting a blu-ray burner when they come down in price a little bit. I think its giving my laptop performance anxiety as it seems to have taken the huff with me and is on a go slow in protest at the new computer :P I need to practice with painting in ZBrush, way different from using Painter to colour things.

Unicorn Head

Image
Messed up the symmetry on the 3D model body of the unicorn. So instead of driving myself insane trying to fix it, I just cut his head off lol Going to have it mounted like a trophy when done hopefully. Little morbid perhaps. Front view at the moment. Zbrush kept freezing on me last night, no idea why since this isn't really that big of a model. I like Zbrush, you can do a lot with it, and I have a lot to learn using it, but the interface is horrible and it is not the best written program. People love it for modeling since you can do so much with it, but fan boys/girls can't seem to admit it has problems and freak out when you mention them. Adding the base of the mane to the model. This is just a matter of building up the area with the clay brush and then you can go back and alter it by either drawing the hair or smoothing parts down. Probably just easier to draw lines to separate the hairs to make it look more mane like. Linking up to P aint Party Friday

3D Unicorn

Image
Starting the 3D unicorn in Zbrush. I start with spheres to build up the shape, even tho you could just start with one sphere. I find it easier to use multiple sphere tho since I find it easier to move them around. The sphere made into the basic shape of the unicorn. Almost ready to start modeling... and now to actually start. Yes, I know the tail looks funny but I just need a simple base to work with. I will probably put this on a base but will do that as a separate piece and then combine the two.

Sunday Sketches

Image
A quick sketch so I can make a 3D model of a unicorn. I just need the basic shapes and can build up the rest with a modeling program. Still coughing my lungs out, prob going back to the doctor because I don't think the antibiotics are doing their job.... Linking up with Sunday sketches :)

Finished Carousal Horse

Image
I finished turning the old sketch of a Carousal horse into vector art today. I could probably spend days more on it, but I like how it looks now and don't have the time with uni starting back up on Monday.  ugh back to getting up at 7am....

Carousel Horse #1

Image
The colours in this will be changing. Right now I am just getting the basic shapes made and then I can go in and add more detail and make the colours fit the design a little better. Right now he is a little too blue lol Not sure what colour to make the horse, maybe I will keep him blue, just not as bright. I got a bunch of free art supplies the other day and one of those wooden mannequins was in one of the 5 boxes. So it is yesterdays sketch, and the hands and feet for todays sketch.

Throwback Thursday

Image
A carousel horse from 2006 that I never finished and I don't know why, since I really like the sketch. I really want colour this digitally, or I it might look really nice in watercolour. I could try both if I can find the time lol

Wordless Wednesday

Throwback Thursday

Image
A couple of unfinished sketches from 2003. Two dragons with rune writing, and I have no idea what it means now lol And a horse sketch that I abandoned probably because I couldn't get the ears to look right.

Throwback Thursday

Image
Blame living in Alberta for this one. Drawn at 15, 20 years ago making me feel really old. I drew a lot of these swirly things growing up, still do when I am bored.

Throwback Thursday Art

Image
Pointillism horses from 2003. Almost finished, but as usual I stopped working on this for some reason. I love doing pointillism, but it can take forever to put all those dots down. Its another art form I would love to get back to, but so many things to do, but so little time :p

Draft Horse #3

Image
Changed the background to go more with the horse and I need to work on that ear, change the lines on it. Over all I am pretty happy with the way it is starting to look. I really like how the muzzle turned out, probably won't be able to do it again tho lol
