Blogtober #31

Image
Took my little fish and using the computer put this little design together. The plan is to do a round lino cut, maybe in two colours. And blogtober is over! Managed to post every day, even if the post was only a picture :p

Blogtober #30

rusty door , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. So this is 2 weeks in a row that I have missed college on Tuesdays. Last Tuesday it was because of a migraine from hell, and today it was because I have a mild concussion and am really dizzy. They are going to start thinking I am avoiding going on Tuesdays on purpose :p Of course I go and hit the front of my head on the roof bars on the car and then 2 days later hit the back of my head getting out of the car door. Feeling a little dizzy :p (the photo is of a rusted door, just really liked all the colours)

Music Mondays

Whenever I hear this song I think of my childhood, as the whole album was played a lot growing up.

I have wanted one of these star resin necklaces from here the first time I saw it and finally had the spare money to get one. I love it :) Spent the day taking photos of an old ruined mill, just too bad I couldn't get right up to the building to get some shots. Did find how people were getting in to graffiti the walls (and other illegal things as well), but I'm not built for urban exploration :p and its on the corner of a busy street so someone would probably have seen :/

snow....

Still making a mess with pastels but there are 2 horses now. Really like the orange horse, but probably shouldn't be that orange :p

Chubby Robin

Image
For sale here Finished little robin :) I used Faber-Castell art grip Aquarelle pencils for this and I do like, them but a few things about them: I did find them easy to hold because of the triangle shape instead of a circular one They were easy to use dry on heavy duty watercolour paper and the colours were vibrant  But when the pencil is then wetted the colours get very light. Either I need to put a lot of pigment on the page or I just have to stick to mutiple colour passes with the pencils The colours blend/bleed together well  When the pencils are used wet directly, the colours are rich and vibrant, so I could just use them wet but that does eat up a lot of the pencil So not upset I bought them and will keep using them but will probably combine them with either ink or watercolour paint in the future.

An etching for college not done on a piece of plastic or metal but on.... cardboard. I found it so odd to work on and really hard to not actually scratch all the way threw the board. As long as you use the shiny side it works since the ink doesn't stick to it and just stays in the lines. Still prefer etching on plexi-glass. The baby pigeon was picked up this morning and is being taken to a wildlife centre until he is old enough to fly and then be released :) Sky kept sniffing the hall door, she knew something was in there :p

Easily caught pigeon , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. We went out and I saw this pigeon sitting in one of the hedges, people and dogs walking within inches of it and it just sat there. Still there a few hours later, so phoned the SSPCA about it. So now it is sitting in a tub covered with a sheet waiting to be picked up. It was caught way too easily to be 100% healthy and even if it is just exhausted and needs time to recover, it will be one less meal tonight for the neighbourhood cats.

Chirp Chirp

Image
I didn't feel like making a mess with pastels today, so brought out my new waterrcolour pencils to colour with. Great for drawing with, but time will tell if I like them,(hopefully since I just went and spent a lot of money on them :p) There is something about this time of year that makes me want to draw fat little robins lol

Stampede redux

Image
So I have decided to try to do this in pastels. I work very messy and loose with chalk pastels. Its going to take a lot of layers to get this looking like a horse :p

More Eyes

Image
Always nice when my hand goes numb, makes drawing interesting when I am dropping everything all the time :p Didn't turn out too bad, but I can't remember who the artist was that painted the original, oops :p Probably should have wrote it down.

Eyes

Image
Need to draw eyes for life drawing, and we are going to be doing self portraits too. Haven't drawn myself before so it should be interesting :p

Rough Stampede

Image
I had planed on do a more realistic drawing of these horses, but in the end I really just wanted to make a mess :p Still needs work in a few places, and while I do like drawing realistically, it is nice to just draw and not really think about it.

So more design work, this time with the little fish I did for college. Scanned the print and then cleaned up the edges so only the fish remained and then went and had some fun :D A basic repeat patter. Doubled the fish and put them side by side in a repeating pattern. The same as above, but used the ripple filter. I  have no idea what I will do with these, but they are fun to do :)

Stampede!

Image
Would 3 running horses still be considered a stampede, maybe its not enough horses...... So I tried working on the swan today but I kept messing things up, so before I really wrecked things and couldn't fix them I decided to draw something else. And of course, I fall back on horses because drawing them is second nature to me. Lots of more refining to go before I can even think about starting to shade this, but I like the way it looks so far :)

I haven't had much time to crochet anything between college work and work for my job, but thankfully I haven't forgotten how :p

swanWIP , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. Small update on the swan :) Looking all right so far. Def. going to use this coloured paper again, its working really well with the white bird.

Sphere!

Image
I need to make a bunch of shapes out of paper for one of the college classes, and while they have been easy to do, making a sphere out of paper was giving me problems. Not as easy to do as one would think, many ways to make one, but I just wasn't getting my head around any of them. But... I know how to weave and found this really great site full of paper weaving, so thought why not try to weave a sphere. Looks more like a balloon here :p and the paper clips are a must to try to keep everything together until you are done. And yay! A sphere :)
