Love how the markers are blending but not happy with the rest lol so onto the next drawing. You win some you lose some :)

John got me two sets of Copic markers and a really nice pen for our anniversary yesterday and I of course had to test them on different papers right away. The Yupo paper is very streaky, which makes sense since the paper isn't really made for markers and can be streaky anyway with most media. This marker paper can get very streaky too and I didn't get a nice gradient when trying to blend the markers. The markers blend very well on the Manga paper, the colours fade a bit when dry though. The colour didn't seem to fade on the Bristol paper and the blending is OK, probably needed a few more colour passes to get a perfect blend. I need to get some heavier paper and try some of the other paper I have laying around, but so far I think I will go with the Bristol paper to work on.

A happy witch for todays prompt. Very quick sketch, about 10 minutes for everything to be drawn and coloured. Gave her a pointy chin and would have added some warts for the stereotypical with look people think of. Would have spent longer on it, but I'm in a bit of pain after getting a tooth pulled out. Two root canals but ended up getting the tooth pulled anyway and my dentist does not know why it  hurt so much. Its not cracked or chipped. Pen lid for size comparison. Really long tooth lol and he actually ground about 3 mm off the other day so it was even longer.

A bored grave for day 6. I could have gotten better blending with the markers if I was using proper marker paper, but these are supposed to look rough and be sketchy, so don't want things to look too clean. I added a simple moon and clouds after making the first basic light sketch. Also a few extra simple skulls. Not sure if the skulls look bored, but I  like how this turned out.

The finished blue bird. Another experiment with the Yupo paper but this time I took a hard eraser to it to try to create highlights. I think I need a harder eraser to properly create highlights. The eraser residue ended up acting like a wax resits when I went over the areas with markers again. Created a really neat effect. Obvs I finished this before my arm was put in a sling and I want to do some more experimenting with the Yupo paper but it will have to wait until my arm feels better  :(

Finished the dragon sketch last night which is great because I can hardly move my right arm. And that could be anything, from my fall last week or its just irritated again. Typing is fun lol typing with just a left hand is hard lol And more mess with markers on Yupo paper. Still experimenting with the paper so not everything goes to plan.

Another marker on Yupo piece. Yes, the beak is too short but I ran out of room and I'm drawing right with the markers on the paper, no guide marks to go by. I probably should have left the background white since the Toucan does run the risk of getting lost in the bckground once dry, but I can always go over the bird if I need to later. I really do like the marbling effect that happens with this paper. Just wish there was a way to seal it without getting spray marks on the paper. I can spray it with fixative, but every time I have tried, I end up with white spray marks on the paper. Going to have to do some research to see what other people do.  Linking up with PaintPartyFriday

This didn't take as long as I thought it would to dry, was dry last night. I had to darken the scan a bit since scanning the image made the peacock very light. I will use more marker next time tho, just to experiment more with the paper. I really like the results of the markers on the Yupo paper. These were water soluble markers tho, probably would work with non-soluble ones but am going to try anyway to see what happens.

Blame living in Alberta for this one. Drawn at 15, 20 years ago making me feel really old. I drew a lot of these swirly things growing up, still do when I am bored.

I went through a really big marker phase when I was 15. Thats the only reason I can think of for this.

For Sale This months location in the Virtual Paintout is Tasmania :) Very nice looking place and another one to add to the travel list for one day. I will just say, I love my markers :D I just wish they were not so much money or I would have more of them. I know this scratchy ink/marker style is not to everyones taste, but I like how simple it looks but also how colourful I can make it.
