After a Hard Days Work #2

Image
A title for this actually came pretty quick to mind, the actual etching tho? Not coming along quickly. Need to shade his chin more and the area near his ear and then move on to his neck and the start of all the tack. Little gif of the etching as progress. Spent the rest of the day working on the summer project we were given to be finished for when we got back. Since writing out all the notations I would probably need would kill my hand, decided to use Illustrator for it. Nothing impressive but does the job I need it to :) * edit* one of about 30+ :p

Ducks!

Figured it was time to start working on a sketchbook, so started with a Mallard. I want to try to draw every bird I see, but that will depend on if I can manage to get a pic of it. I don't think I am going to be able to get pics of the Swifts on the hill, they fly around like little rockets that dive bomb the dog :p (My  writing is horrible!. I can draw but can't write lol)

A double page spread from one of my sketchbooks. With a plate on the right, ready to be printed but I don't have a press to print it. hmmm if only I had an extra few thousand pounds and room for a press :p

Blogtober #4

Quick 10 minute sketchbook work for college. The brief for this class was "Who do you think you are?", so base your work on your family history. Bit of a problem when you don't really know anything about your family history, (hence why I was going through census records a few weeks ago). So because I consider myself Canadian, not Irish Canadian, just plain old Canadian, I thought I could use part of the history of Canada. There is a lot to Canadian history, so I decided to stick to researching about the First Nations people, their culture, art, basic history etc. So I've started on the west coast, and plan on working my way East. I have always liked Northwest Coast art, and have been learning a lot about it and the artists that create it, its very interesting. People might get sick of me drawing totem poles all the time tho :p

Sketchbook Pages

2 sketchbook pages in progress of some dragons. They are nowhere near done, most of the pages in my sketchbooks end up with ref. photos and loose pages of drawings glued down. Which is why my sketchbooks usually end up weighing a tonn...one from college last year weighed over 6 pounds :p

Whats this??!?!

A dragon! Been a long time since I have drawn any type of dragon, its over due. So here is a dragon that still needs some work, but he is turning out pretty nice  :)

More Messy Writing :p

Copyright Jennifer Rose Phillip I know I am not the only one that can sometimes have problems starting the first page in a sketchbook. I've tried just skipping ahead a few pages which for some reason seemed to make it easier to put pencil to paper. This time I just decided to put pencil to the first page and of course a dragon showed up. But its almost a full bodied sketch so maybe college is doing more for my art then I think it is. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying going just not 100% sure what I am achieving besides a lot of drawings of skulls and nekkid people :p Having said that, I think that life drawing class is probably what is helping me when drawing things other then portraits and close ups. Easier to see how things are connected in the bigger picture, not just one area. Possibly over analyzing what we are doing but hmm probably something I can't help doing. And in the end I will probably see improvement, (at least I would hope lol) when going through everythin...
