some of the houses round here go nuts and clover the house in lights and snow people and Santa's and all sorts...... one one house last year had snowmen, Santa's, more than one. penguins, reindeer....all sorts and three wise men....but my fave was an inflatable Santa who was about 6 foot tall and didnt keep its inflation so he kept bending over like he was puking!!! I put my tree up, but haven't done the lighst or decks yet...just a bare tree!
I said to Andrew, who knows I hate all these OTT decked houses, I want a puking Santa!!! And we went to walk down that way with Poppy but as you walked past it activated a musical thingy and started blaring we wish you a merry Xmas, bet that soon got on their neighbours wick!!!
LOL I would teach the dog to run past it over and over again setting it off to try run the electricity bill up :p that or it would have an accident in the middle of the night :p
SO many of the houses here totally over do it. I used to love driving around as a kid and look at the Christmas lights, but now, it's so ubiquitous and over-the-top it is unenjoyable (except for maybe the laugh factor).
There is one house that has all of these 'inflatable' figures, which of course, they don't run while it's light out, so their front yard is littered with uninflated 'carcasses' during the day. Dead Santas!
This weeks colours for The Summer of Color are 2 purples and a yellow and this is what I did with them. Not my favorite colours so really racked my brain trying to think how I could use them and which bird to use. Decided to go with a juvenile Golden Eagle since I don't have any photos of a purple bird :p I think I prefer the black background, the yellow seems to stand out more against it. Which do you prefer?
