Easter Dragons

Image
Prints Its an old drawing, but one I have always liked and it is what started me drawing holiday dragons. Hopefully I get some time this week to draw an updated version, change some thing I never liked. I haven't been able to get a scan of it before, so the new scanner is really its self useful :)

Ok so I lied...

Image
Prints for sale Said I wasn't going to post the fish again, but got a better scan of them, so here they are again :p I still have the plate I used, minus the red printed areas, so I will probably do something with it, just not sure what yet. Mixed media printing?

Toucan W.I.P #2

Image
Started to colour the little Toucan. I really like this paper colour, 'Lagoon', at 15 pence a sheet. I wish  had of grabbed all of it when it was on sale. Huh, just realized this photo is actually bigger than the  drawing in person :p Added prints of the Orca print to Etsy. Didn't put the actual print online for sale yet since I might need to put it in my portfolio.

Blogtober #24

Image
An etching for college not done on a piece of plastic or metal but on.... cardboard. I found it so odd to work on and really hard to not actually scratch all the way threw the board. As long as you use the shiny side it works since the ink doesn't stick to it and just stays in the lines. Still prefer etching on plexi-glass. The baby pigeon was picked up this morning and is being taken to a wildlife centre until he is old enough to fly and then be released :) Sky kept sniffing the hall door, she knew something was in there :p

Cranes

Image
Another collagraph, one I actually like :p Folded up a bunch of cranes, then glued them to a board. Next time I want to try different colours and maybe a few more cranes with different textured papers. I could even fold other animals and then see what a print from them will look like. I have two conditional offers for placements at 2 different colleges, the condition being that I pass the course I am in right now. And as long as I work my ass off in photography I should :p Then I just have to decide if I stay at the current college I go to, or go to a different one. A change of scenery would be nice, but at the same time, if most of my current class also gets placements that would be great, as we pretty much all get along and work well together. Haven't heard about Uni yet, but not holding my breath as it is very hard to get in and they get a lot of applicants and very few places to fill.

Overkill?

Image
Can a person have too many computer monitors?:p I've never done a collograph print before, so have no idea what I am doing lol So its just gluing junk/stuff down and printing from it?

Mail!!

Image
Always nice waking up to mail :D And inside, a print I won from Sherrie :) (it got bent in the mail :( ) Please have a look at her blog , so many wonderful things to look at :) Still working on the cp tiger, slow going and I just noticed his nose is crooked :p

Seeing Stripes Finished

Image
"Seeing Stripes" Prints for Sale Finished the zebra's eye today. Not a huge change from the last photo posted, but it has eyelashes now and I added some highlights. Really happy with it, so happy I am going to frame it myself. So much cheaper to frame art yourself if you can, and it finishes off a piece so well. Even if I had the cash I don't think I would pay a framer, unless it was a good deal. Its not that hard to do, can just be time consuming if you want to double matte something.

Playing with Prints

Image
One lino block cut, but I will probably end up cutting more away one day until not much is left with it. I changed my mind while cutting this, so it ended up not looking a thing like the picture I had in my head :p Pulled a few test prints, just to see what it looks like at this stage. If you didn't know it was a skull, you might not know what it was, but I think it looks cool. I want to mess around with paper textures and textures on the plate itself, so its a good thing I have lots of paper laying around and the weekend off from college. Lots of time to play :)

Dear Santa

Image
Or should that be deer Santa? :p Prints for sale  Original for sale I did this on watercolour paper with coloured pencil, and I really like how the pencils run over the grooves in the paper. For awhile, this looked like it was actually done with watercolours, but after I added a few darker colours, it started to look more like a pencil piece. I am going to have to try with the paper and pencils again, I liked the look and as long as I keep the colours light, it will look like watercolours. The technique might work really well with small landscapes or if I can't find any water around to use with my paint.  Months in advance and I get a Xmas picture done. Surprise even myself sometimes :p

Happy Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween , a photo by fuzzydragons on Flickr. Yes its early. But I usually leave it so late that the day has almost passed and I really wanted to have at least one Halloween drawing done before October starts. Still couldn't think of a title lol I want to try to do a few more Halloween drawings so there might be a few more popping up soon :) Prints for Sale here :)

Give Away Time

Image
Because it is my blog's birthday in 12 days I decided to have a little give away. :) 3 years of me rambling :p huh who knew I could find something to write about for such a long time :p Met a lot of nice people online through blogging, and not just artists and craft people. The sense of community is what I really like about blogging, lots of helpful and nice people out there that I would never have met if I hadn't started up this blog. :) Decided to have 2 give aways to celebrate. Rules are pretty simple, just leave a comment to be entered :) but if you want to have a few extra entries here is what you can do. For each of these that you do, please leave a separate comment so I can keep track of how many entries a person has :) ) 1. head on over to my Etsy store and leave a comment here about an item you like (1 extra entry) 2. blog about the giveaway and leave a comment here letting me know you have blogged about the give away (1 extra entry) 3. Twitter the giveaway :) (1 extr...

Seeing Spots

Image
Pebble Beach" Copyright Jennifer Rose Phillip Vintage art from me (well not that old, a couple years old). This is Rikki , an Australian Cattle Dog. I can't remember where I took this picture, some beach in Oregon when I went to a huge dog show there. I don't have a copy of this anymore, just one single print (#13). I do miss going to dog shows as its usually the only time you can see some of the rarer breeds. I think I will see if there are any local dog shows to go to next year. (I am open for pet portrait commissions now) I printed off 8 ACEOs of the Peacock Scarab to sell on Etsy and other places. I put 4 on Etsy right now and I will keep 4 to sell through me (numbers 2,4,6,8). I will not be printing off anymore ACEOs of this scarab, so if you want one, please let me know. I can make different sized prints 5by7 inches for £12 and A4 sized for £20 plus £3 for shipping worldwide. Send me an email or a comment here if you are interested. Dad is still in the hospital, an...

Gorgeous Flowers

Image
Sale on Prints at My Etsy Store Free Shipping on all Prints The yard at the flat was cut by the Council with a trimmer, so all it needs now is for the grass to be raked up and some holes filled in. So at least now Mr.Fuzzy will not stop breathing trying to cut the lawn again (ok it wasn't that bad, but not exactly a pretty sight either [the joys of hayfever]) Been busy with packing and filling out immigration forms so have not had time to do anything else. But now the immigration form are all filled out and sent away (*crosses fingers everything goes well*), I just have packing to do and might have some spare time to actually draw something soon. But until than have some flowers :) All of these are in Mr.Fuzzy's parent's back yard. Clematis that are growing in the back corner. I love this plant this time of year. There are so many purple/blue (burple ?) flowers on it that its gorgeous and its taller than me :) This is the Tiger Lily flowers that is huge. Almost as tall as...

Small Update on Deuce

Image
"Deuce" Copyright Jennifer Rose Phillip Started laying filling in the eyes and nose on this cute guy :) Used a HB pencil so far. Awhile ago I would start first with a 4H pencil and go darker from there, but now don't think I need to use such light pencils when I can get the same effect with the darker ones. So going to fill in the basic highlights and shadows with the HB and go from there (and I got a great deal on 100 HB pencils so need to use them up [just over $10 I think]). Considering he is solid black in a lot of places, I can see my hands getting covered in graphite dust. (must remember not to wear white or touch anything that is white while working on this) :p My laptop has to get packed up, and picked up tomorrow to get sent away to get fixed. Not sure how long it will be gone. :( Listed a print of the dragons around the pentacles on Etsy :)

3 for 1

Image
Prints available here 3 posts in one day. Almost a record for me I think on Blogger. Finished the drawing of Harly. I think it is harder in some ways to draw a dog that you knew well (well knew well enough that we tolerated each other. He was def. a one person dog, but if you had cookies he was your friend :p), compared to drawing a dog for a customer that you only know either from pictures or a brief encounter. You get to know the dog's personality and sometimes it can be hard to draw them they way they actually look, compared to how you remember them being. That probably doesn't make any sense. I would love to draw a picture of Loch, but I have even less pictures of him than I do Harly. Any that I don't have are possibly in Alberta. I don't think I would have a problem drawing him because he really was just a big furry goof. Also finished that Hawk ACEO I was working on. I'm not 100% sure its a Sparrow Hawk, but thats what I am going with lol "Mr.Angry" ...
