Dissertation Finished!

Image
Finally finished my dissertation so now I can go back to writing unacademic like lol At 18692 words and 84 pages all I can do know is cross my fingers and hope I get at least a passing mark on it. And now I have more time for art and binge watching videos lol

So Much Writing

Image
So this is what I have been doing the last 3 days. Writing an essay on the illustrations in Jules Verne's novels and creating a presentation to go with it. I know this isn't an art course but I couldn't help the artist background creeping in somewhere and my professor did give me the go ahead to focus on the illustrations in early science fiction novels since they are such a huge part to the novels. I don't plan on focusing on art related topics for the other modules, but you never know. You can't spend 7 years in higher education for art and not have it show up again somewhere. One more essay and presentation to write on science fiction and the environment. Surprise, surprise, most of the books and movies are very distopian and depressing.

Dogs Trust Posters

Image
These are the posters to go with the motion graphic piece I made for the brief for the Dogs Trust. This is probably my favourite out of the 5 of them :) And the final happy dog :)

Done and Dusted

Image
Graduated, I learned how to use many different programs and it led to me looking into 3D work more I think I am just not your typical graphic designer when it comes to look, I put too much of an illustrative twist on things (but wouldn't say no to a job in graphics). Maybe should have done Illustration, but I thought I might be bored with it, since it is usually what I do for myself. *shrugs* live and learn :) Oddly enough, I got a really good mark for my dissertation, when at first I was terrified of essay writing and John went through boxes of red pens proof reading....lol . Maybe I should have actually gone and done an English course to begin with lol

Finished Motion Graphic

Detritus from fuzzydragons on Vimeo .  Finished the motion graphic piece for my plastic project for uni. Its 1 minute 25 seconds long, wanted it to be shorter but couldn't get all the info I wanted to include in a shorter time. There are things I would change, but overall I am happy with how it turned out.

Assesment Day

Image
Final year assessment was today, so all afternoon was spent putting this up (with help of course). So now we all have to wait until the 16th to find out our grades and if we passed. And now to sleep or clean this studio up lol

Busy Busy Busy

Ack! so busy lol no time to visit anyone or comment. I have almost everything done for degree show except a motion graphic piece. Its for my plastics in the ocean project and this is what I have so far. Detritus from fuzzydragons on Vimeo . so much left to do on it.....

Degree Show Prep

Image
Djcad has the banners up for this years degree show, don't mind the colours. Very bright and spring like. My page on the uni site for the show so you can read my ramblings lol And this is my space to hang work for the degree show. Well, half of it. Spent the morning trying to figure out layouts for things, made me realize I need to get a few things printed A2 size because its actually a lot bigger space then I thought lol I did find 10 spare minutes to work on my dino head. I added some spikes on the neck frill and thats about it lol Needs more spikes and some teeth since he looks like he has lost them in a bar fight.

Simple Cards

Image
Needed business cards, so designed some really simple ones. Simple can work sometimes more than really busy cards. This is the front. And this is the back and of course it needed a dragon :)

Ocean Pollution Problem #3

Image
I promise not to post any more of this project lol I just really like how in these rendered versions you can see the junk floating under the surface of the water, which is where a lot of the stuff is. I still have to make scene mockups with these version and then a motion graphic piece. Plenty of time....(not really lol)

Ocean Pollution Problem #2

Image
So I stuck the 3D models from the previous post into photos to get a rough idea of what they might look like. Still needs work but you get the general idea of how the statues could look like. The top one is probably too grey and the bottom one too light lol, need to fix that.

Ocean Pollution Problem

Image
One of my projects for uni was dealing with the problem of plastic in the oceans. So these are the models for the installation part of the project. The plan is to get them printed, but if I can't I will just make turntables for them so you can see on video all around the models. There should also be a graphics motion piece to go with it, but I'm still working on that so hopefully I get it done in time. I've got almost 3 weeks until its due lol (plus putting the stuff up for degree show, designing new business cards, making sure sketchbooks are done, getting things printed for degree show....)

Uni Project Post #3

Image
Poster #3 dealing with stereotypes people have about indigenous people compared with the true facts.  I'm not sure how many posters I will end up with, but I know I need either a small leaflet, book or info-graphic that has information about colonization and the residential schools in it so the posters make more sense rather then just posters that could be for anything.

Eagle Owl #9

Image
Very very tiny update on the head feathers. I started the other ear tufft today but need to get a lot of research done for uni on various subjects including electric cars and the impact they have on the environment. The environmental impact of creating the cars is actually a lot worse than people think. Not denying low emissions from the cars but there are a lot of other factors that need to be thought about when it comes to electric cars. Another poster for my personal project for uni focusing on stereotypes people have of indigenous people to try to get people to stop and think about the truth.

Personal Project Post #1

Image
My personal project is in no way saying that indigenous people are drunks, so please do not think that. My project is addressing the horrible stereotypes that non-indigenous people have about indigenous people and hopefully make people stop and think about the actual person and not the horrible things that indigenous people get called. This design was just me trying to come up with the basic look and still needs some work done to it, but I have plenty of time to finalize the posters/campaign. I am thinking the final art will be somewhere in between these 2 text I'm using photos from Edward S. Curtis, and as far as I can tell I don't have a problem using them, but if I do, let me know.

Space Motion Graphic

Here is the finished motion graphic piece for uni :) editedelasticpiece from fuzzy dragons on Vimeo .

Into Space

Image
One of the uni project we had to do was create a 30 sec motion piece, branding ourselves again. I went with a space theme and needed to create some images I could then move around in After Effects. Made up a simple logo, kept the space theme for it but I could just use the text without the planets if needed. Needed a rocket and a few floating astronauts, with a Canadian flag of course. The ISS makes a brief appearance, along with 3 colourful aliens. I finished the motion piece but it needs a few small things changed before I post it here, hopefully on Monday.

Finished Beer Designs

Image
I finally managed to get the label design part of this uni project finish. Took long enough lol and my arm is killing me now. I still have to print the labels and stick them to the pop cans I will be using and then make up some merchandise mockups. I do need to stencil the box these will be going in and create a little card/poster to go with it but I am almost done lol (only 2 other big projects, an essay and a journalist piece to go...wish me luck.) The back design which needed to include certain things in the design such as the units recommended, don't drink when knocked up etc

More Alcohol

Image
Was suggested these were too Scottish looking and the more I look at them, I totally agree so back to the drawing board to try to bring in something Canadian to them. Of course when people think of Canada they tend to think of maple leaves, but the only problem with that is that the maple leaf is used on a lot of Canadian alcohol labeling already so can't have something that looks too much like something else already on the market. But now the design does go better with the maple beer idea. I will probably move the text up slightly, I think its a bit too low on the cans. But I do think its a good mix up between Scotland and Canada. I am probably going to use cans for the design but just wanted to see what it might look like on bottles. This project is going to give me more grey hair lol
