Throwback Thursday

Image
Iwas messing around with the Chine Collé technique on lino prints, not perfect but I should try again.

Finished Scratchcard Bird

Image
Finished the hawk the other day, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out :)

Scratchboard Bird #3

Image
Started work on the body feathers which hopefully wont take too long *crosses fingers*

Scratchboard Bird #2

Throwback Thursday

Another  drypoint etching from college from 2014. I did add a light wash of watercolour to it as the lines were not going to bleed being oil based printing ink.

Coloured Kestrel

Image
Quickly digitally coloured my Kestrel. Lesson learned, use waterproof inks next time so I can paint it with watercolours

Finished Kestrel

Image
Finished the tiny bird, will def use the glass pen again in the future :)

Kestrel Update

Image
Most of the head is done now and I'm starting on the back feathers. Once everything is done and dried I will probably have to add more shading :)

Starting a New Drawing

Image
A tiny Kestrel which is going to be done with one of my glass pens to see if I can complete a whole piece with it before I get angry and then toss the pen lol

Angry Tiny Birb Part Two

Image
This week has been so busy but I'm not that sure why lol So behind on blogs and youtube videos but did manage to get this tiny birb finished lol :) pretty happy with how it turned out.

Throwback Thursday

Image
A pair of tiny owls from 2008 for throwback Thursday. If I am remembering right these owl are only about 3 and a bit inches tall so not a lot of space for detail, which is why I tend to work bigger now. Takes longer to create something when it is bigger but it allows me all the detail I want.

A coloured pencil magpie from 2008. Very simple composition but was fun drawing the bird.

Falcon Update #15

Image
Almost done roughing in the bottom section. The feathers here are bigger so do not take as much time to do, when I can find the time to work on this. I will be so glad when I can start the shading and it won't look so flat. People might be wondering why I do the details first and then shade, why don't I do both at once? It is much easier to get proper gradients when shading if you are etching over the whole piece. If you try to do the shading bit by bit, it can end up looking like a very broken and really rough. Much smoother and realistic looking doing the shading once the details are done.

Throwback Thursday

Image
An eagle from 2008 done in coloured pencil with the background done with Neocolor IIs. The detail on the feathers probably could have been better but the eye looks nice.

Falcon Update #12

Image
I will finish this eventually lol. Definitely needs more shading on the head since it looks very flat at the moment but I want to get the rest of the feathers done before I do that. Its getting there so should be done in a few weeks, maybe lol

Falcon Update #11

Image
Another quick falcon etching update. Added a bit more feathers to the bottom and a bit  more shading to the sides but long way still to go. A close up of the eye showing all of the cross hatching and why this takes forever lol

Throwback Thursday

Image
I actually have no idea how old this is, more than 20 years old as I do remember drawing it in high school. Done on cheap printer paper and with Crayola pencil crayons. I would call coloured pencils pencil crayons and didn't know why until John pointed its probably something to do with french or a Canadian thing lol (yep he looked it up, its a Canadian thing)

Falcon Update #10

Image
A small update on the body feathers and more shading to the sides. I added a bit of shadow below the beak area so that looks a lot better. I would have had more done today but I had a molar pulled and it hurts. I broke off and the dentist had to cut the roots from my jaw. I actually didn't think he would be able to pull it since I can't open my mouth that much due to the metal jaw joints, but he managed it since he a very good dentist. My teeth are crap lol
